    How on earth can they pick tire compounds with conditions like these? Does anyone really think Bridgestone has an advantage being in that hemisphere versus Michelin?

    What do you mean? I remember my last summer in Dallas we had over 35 consecutive days of 100+ deg. It's not that uncommon. All the SCCA guys have do deal with it. The tire manufacturers have plenty of compounds for these types of temps.
