Dancing Man is magic here. Pretty damn impressive and really pleased for Meyer and Mike Shank. Phenomenal win. Well done.
Great day for Indy Car Series today. Great seeing Helio winning today after being dumped by Penske with no fan fare
Remember attending his first race in CART. Only a few years back..... Was that Roger being sheepish? LOL. Nice safe race. Excellent win.
HELIO! I was fortunate to work with him in his rookie year in CART. He's the genuine article. So pleased for him. That was everything racing should be. BHW
Probably the most enjoyable Indy 500 since the one I attended in 2013, which was also won by a very popular Brazilian. I think Paul Tracy put it best when he said "The young guys were playing checkers; Helio was playing chess!" And Mario kissing him on the head was almost like being kissed by the Pope! And I like Helio alluding to Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson and proclaiming 2021 as "the year for the old guys". Congratulations to a most worthy and very popular winner!
I wish they'd stop calling Helio an "old guy". I notice that all the incidents came from the pit lane: Four cars lost traction trying to slow -- two crashed. And the lost wheel was a pit lane mistake. Think they need a longer pit entry -- or a better surface on the braking zone? Interesting (and short) race: I only slept through about 30 early minutes. (Just after brunch. Food coma.)
I photographed for Hogan on occasion dating back to Dario Franchitt's first test with them at Sebring. However, Helio's first full season in CART in 1998 was with Alumax/Bettenhausen and I worked with them. BHW
Who doesn't love Helio? Super happy for Mike Shank as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login _DSC2369 by Alex Eichmiller, on Flickr
