That dealer has a good sense of humor. That's the same guy who has for sale the historically important Ghibli once owned by Henry Ford. Browse through his inventory for some more laughs. There is a NYC area dealer who is also quite funny.
Picture with all the parts on the ground is funny. Looks like what would fall off if you slammed the door! I am always amazed at how what was always a premium car can get totally trashed.
The NYC dealer has a large selection of cars for sale in Astoria (Queens), NYC. They list the cars on the internet on their site. It appears that many of the cars shall I say, need work? I have never visited them and I live in NYC. Some cars they have do appear good.
I just looked at the car in Beverly Hills. Strange but the wheels and tires look good. Are they from this car or another one? I also noticed on the driver's door sill what looks to me as fire damage. Is that fire damage or just general corrosion?
Gullwing is who you speak of. I've been to their warehouse in Queens. It's a dumpy place and they pack the cars in by the dozens to the point where you cannot walk between two parked cars. If one does business with them, understand you are getting a car no one really knows anything about other than it's whereabouts obviously lol. So in other words, If Gullwing advertises 'presentable' or 'good driver' I would absolutely not take that to the bank.
Oh that'll buff right out,.. I think it was carefully stored at the bottom of the ocean for 20 years. then left to bake in the desert for another 20? Its the only treatment I can think of to get results like that?? This is what I think of whenever someone wants to sell me a "restored" car!
The Ghibli that is the subject of this thread is now on the dealer's web site offered at U$D 36,500. Custom fresh air intake on hood included at no extra charge. http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/maserati/ghibli/1426527.html Elliot, I would advise you to visit the shop in Astoria to look around. They have a lot of very special and rare cars. They pack them in tight but they've moved a few around for me and I actually bought one from them. Also, they don't mind if you climb between the cars just be careful of your belt buckle and such. The main salesman (forgot his name) once worked for Bob Grossman. The mechanic and the other helpers are good guys. Just be an informed buyer. Go in wearing your critical goggles -- not your passionate goggles. Carmine
