Perhaps there should be an adjustment to The New Rule for the size of the cylinder ;as I'm told it does matter.

Yeah, I'd rather have 12. But would I trade my Datsun 240Z V8, Mazda RX-7 SP13B IMSA wide body, or Jackson Racing SC Miata for a 12 Ferrari? Probably, but I'd suck for the rest of my life. I have loyalties to what makes my heart beat & what I have done to get there.

It's never a good idea to get into counting and measuring on this board. There's always someone with more- real or imagined! ( the beauty of being invisible except for what you choose to show).

Cool, I like this rule. Many of the drinking glasses in my house are cylinders, I counted 32 of those.

    so, add 6 Dino, 6 M3, 8 - Land rover, 6 - x3, 4 - VW, 4 - Honda, 2 - compressor, where did I end up???

68??? Oh, and don't forget those tootsie rolls, those are cylinders, I just bought a 128 count bag of those little ones....

    New total, 196..

    I WIN!!!!!

    Do I get a prize???

    DM.

They sure do but there's not much action on the Bugatti board. you should just get rid of those "less desireable" Ferraris.

I have my first Ferrari - which happens to be a V12 (550) but I would love a 360. I have a Z8 with a V8 and an 05 Mustang with a V8. All are a blast to drive. All are different. But I have to say, the V12 is the most impressive car I have ever driven with torque that boggles the mind (and the sound, oh my god! - OK, I've changed my mind - V12s rule).

V-12s are smooth. Only a V-16 is smoother.

Drive a long distance and smooth matters.

    Only drive 12 cylinders.

Well I have a 328 and 512TR will be delivered next week so I guess both 8 and 12 are fine as long as you love it and make sure that it is a Ferrari!!

I love people who quote Enzo. The truth is....he didn't give a flying f*ck about road going Ferraris. He only wanted to race and win and didn't much care how he accomplished either one. He was a paranoid schizophrenic egomaniac with just enough narcissism to make him endearing.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled programming. :)

Call me a 12 cylinder snob among 12 cylinder owners. Namely, who would own any 12 cylinder automobile without the engine behind the driver? Otherwise, in quoting the late great Allan Lambo, you pretty much end up with something that looks simply like a glorified Datsun 280Z...

Modern front engine V12's have a race record unmatched in GT racing by rear engined F cars. If history hasn't escaped me, you need to look to vintage models to see a reverse of that trend. As road cars, in handling, lap times, comfort etc again the front engine V12 is a winner.
Please explain to me, in objective terms, the superiority of the rear engined V12, aside from such limited production specials as the F50 and Enzo.
I note you list your interests as fast cars and motorcycles, yet drive a Testarossa and '82 Vette, neither of which qualify as such, then there is the Harley..... Having touble keeping a straight face here! Performance enthusiast....??? Cafe racer maybe. Front engined V12's look as much like a Datsun, as your similarity to a REAL performance enthusiast.
Being such a fan of Ellen, you will truly appreciate my candid, Ellen like, disrespectful response. :D

That is correct however a few very daring souls have crammed an 8 Cylinder engine into these cars. As I understand it the term raped ape is appropriate for these cars.

As long as it's got FERRARI stamped on the valve cover, and a little horsey on the nose....it's fine by me.

And if I could have a signature, it would say:

    "8 cylinders...it's all I can afford!"

I don't think they do in normal use, but the Merlins that used to be used in unlimited hydroplanes (Miss Budweiser, etc.) did use nitrous. In P-51 air racers they use water injection for similar purposes.

There was once a guy in England who shoehorned a Merlin (actually a Meteor, the version used in tanks) into a Rolls-Royce sedan! (It is a Rolls-Royce engine, after all!) The hood was lengthened and he had to sit in the back seat......

the fast guys at reno all have H2O injection and nitrous. the engine was designed for 61in manifold pressure at 3000rpm. they are running 135 in mp and 3600rpm. nitrous is just for short spurts. boy do they howl. a good race eng goes for 250K and doesnt last for many races before it turns into a grenade. You get the stickers Bryan?
