Hi everyone, First day of testing at Sebring for the 12 hour race this weekend. Lots of new hardware! Pics of the new F430 GT, Aston Martin running in ALMS and SCCA World Challenge. Of coarse the Spyker and the Audi R10 diesel and Porsche Spyder... I'm dealing with a painful dial-up but I will try to get more pictures up during the week... P1 = 7 entries P2 = 7 entries GT1 = 6 entries GT2 = 16 entries Total = 36 entries Three diesels running in P1 - what I read last night is that Audi is using Sebring as a test session for LeMans. Hope they do well - that new R10 is simply awesome. The two Porsche RS Spyders are running with 3 Courage and 2 Lola - go Intersport Racing (Liz Halliday)!! GT1 is 2 2 2 = 2 C6R's (Fellows/O'Connell/Papis) (Gavin/Beretta/Magnussen); 2 Saleen S7R's and 2 Aston DB9's (Enge/Kiesa/Turner) (Bright/Lamay/Sarrazin) - go Aston Martin!! GT2 = 1 Ferrari 430; 8 Porsche; 3 Panoz Esperante; 2 BMW M3 and 2 Spyker - Good luck to Guiseppi and his crew! Carol
It's interesting, from the the photos, the 430 appears to have a shifter for a sequential gear box. No F1 box? I wonder if the rules preclude them from running one?
Reliability is the key. The F1 transmission isn't as bulletproof as the Xtrac - 6 speed sequential gearbox which is undoubtedly being used.
Risi F430 GT didn't run today's open testing but they were the fastest yesterday of all the GT entries. Looks real promising to come right out of the box at full song... The Audi R10 TDI is so fast and SO QUIET! All you can hear is the gear whine as it flies by!!! Tomorrow starts the actual event. It's been awesome so far...
This dial-up is killing me... I can't believe we use to work this way... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great pics! Thanks for the postings. I'm viewing w/ dial-up so know your pain. Are the PTG cars alone in the new GT2S "sub-class"? Should be a great race. Enjoy!!
Much appreciate the pics. Thats an interesting accelerator pedal (gas pedal)...I suppose its helps the driver keep his foot on the volume control....
You won't see that particular DB9 in the 12 hr. It's prepared for World Challenge and will be in Sunday's WC GT event, Tom P. and Johnny Mowlem driving.
Correct! Johnny is a friend of mine and he was fitted for the car on Monday. These are brand new cars for this season and he hadn't even seen them until his arrival on Monday from England. They sure raised the bar in SCCA World Challenge GT!
Does anyone else find it hilarious to see a suede dash in a totally gutted race car? Only ferrari would pull that one.
Definitely not 'suede', probably alcantara. This is nothing new for their road car-derived racing cars and is also found in the 360 CS.
