Am I missing something here? Or, are these guys as crazy as I think they are? $1200 plus $100 shipping for set of USED Kumho 205/70/14 tires? They can't even guarantee the condition either. Here's the Ebay description:

"You are bidding on a Ferrari: We never sell tires but we receive so many calls for 14 inch tires, rare and expensive so here they are unless you want to purchase new 16 inch rims from us..We dont know the integrrity of the tires but lots of life left. All look like new in regards to tread. USED & OEM, .Part # ;Fits the following models : 308"

I can understand $1200 if these were NOS XWX's, but for low speed rated non original Kumho's?? Geez!!

Not sure that many would be interested in purchasing these, however, for those that are, they should at a minimum disclose the date code on the tire.

Did some shopping around just for kicks. Turns out that you can buy these exact same tires BRAND NEW from Tire Rack for only $67.56/each! Same exact tire which is the Kumho Solus KR21. Ebay seller "ferrparts" needs to do some research before they price some of their items like these tires imo.

This is the company that has, just in the past year, randomly sent me parts I didn't order for a car I don't own (but VERY accurately billed my credit card), AND sold me a set of "complete" 360 rods, then mailed me half-rods without caps, bearings or hardware (all of which were pictured in their eBay listing).

INEPT would be the most-polite term I could muster to describe Ferrparts. I appreciate their massive inventory when I need something, but naturally they're selling used tires for 5x the cost of brand new identical ones, as only some idiot in their eBay listing team could do before checking TireRack.

P.S. For the sake of fairness, they DID refund my card and pay return shipping for someone else's parts, and agreed to cancel the eBay sale and refund me on the 360 rods (but would NOT just mail me the rest of the hardware, which they parted out and separately sold on eBay). They have become my parts vendor of last resort.

I suspect you'll find that they've already done their research! ;)

What they're hoping for is to find a naive buyer who believes that because it's on ebay it must be a bargain and so buys the tyres without checking elsewhere first.

(you'd be amazed how many people get caught out with "Rare", "Hard to come by", "Bargain" items on ebay! You get people selling "Hard to come by" roof latch plates for $200 on ebay that Eurospares sell for $30, "Bargain" Hill engineering slick shift gates for $250 that Hill engineering sell for $148, and God only knows how many other items).

When buying car parts off ebay (for any car and not just Ferrari), do yourself a favour and do your homework first! - You might just be surprised!

That's a little disconcerting because I like FerrParts. Hopefully they will see this thread and just put those ugly old donuts up for a no reserve auction :(

This will be interesting. I just sent them this message:

Hi,guys. Your reputation is the most important thing you have. I have enjoyed doing business with you. These tires are just off the shelf beaters. Very inexpensive from a tire dealer. You might consider revising your auction. It has become a topic of discussion with your best customers. Thanks!

Yes, I sent them a message at 5 AM their time this morning asking if it was an error. They indicated it was a mistake and would correct the price. Interesting how many were willing to jump all over them before checking.

I have 8 of the 390 wheels and one set of 4 still has 197? dated XWX metric tires on them. They are junk. Why are people seeking out 14's? You could order 16's for 308's from dealers in late 83 when they came out as replacements for older cars.

I would rather have replica 16's for safety than 14's and crap tires.

Thanks tinterow and johnk for contacting them to find out what the real story was. When we see a high price on something, especially these tires that are specified FOR a 308 and in the description says "rare and expensive", we can usually assume that the price is correct. Plus, since the item was being described and sold by a very knowledgeable/experienced Ferrari parts specialist......that made it feel like the pricing was intentional. Mistakes do happen and no one is exempt! :)

Not sure what's happening with wildcat326 though. That sucks! Somebody over at Ferrparts is messing up with things like that happening. wildcat326, If I were you if it keeps happening, I'd call and see if you can take your credit card off their files. Either that, cancel that card and have another re-issued to you with a different number.

I totally agree. 16's are definitely the way to go. FYI, I wasn't seeking out 14's, I just happened to run across these tires while browsing other parts on Ebay. Is nobody into 14's and XWX's at all? I would think people would still want them for originality and concours?

I suggest sticking to the good stuff. they might cost more, but that is because they are better. Michelin are one of the worlds best tyre manufacturers. they are worlds apart from a second hand budget tyre that you don't know the age of. If they are the tyres i think they are then they have either a 95T or a 93T load and speed rating so fine for a wedding car or towing a caravan.

here is an interesting post about 16" wheels http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/492728-gt4-wheels-rubbing.html#post144051559

The factory offered 16inch P7s as an option late in the GT/4 production. Do you know what the width of that tire is/was?

I too have used them with excellent service, on original 1970s Ferrari parts.
    Trim items, NOT tires!
