I bought this car 45 years ago. It was stolen a few year later and torn apart. I got it back but in bad shape, with the instrument cluster, ignition, and many other parts having been ripped out. Wiring problems are a big issue. The headlight relay has six wires but one is cut and I dont know where it goes. It is black and next to the green one, and is hot (12 volt). My Repair and Service manual does not show wiring in enough detail to be of much help.. Can anyone describe the wiring scheme for the relay and light switch? Also, this car has a spring loaded 12 volt contact attached to the steering column. Is this to energize the horn? Seems a bit elaborate for that purpose but I cant imagine any other use.. I havent found any manual that even shows such a contact

This car sat outside for several years, then sat untouched for 30 years. I removed the cover, put some gas in the carbs, hooked up a battery, and it fired right up. of course I changed the oil and turned the motor a little by hand first and used a jumper wire since the ignition switch was gone but overall, what a surprise

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, every dino owners nightmare

Here is the 246 manual which you can download, under the heading 246 manuals

    https://dinospider.com/manuals.html

Here is a coloured wiring diagram for the 246, there are a few variations but this may help you.

    http://dinoplex.org/

scroll down about half way under the section Magneti Marelli AEC 103 A/B/BA (1970-1975) and you will see various wiring diagrams.

The centre spring loaded wire is for the horn.

    Good spares are availalble from

    Dino Parts.de in Germany

Lots of experienced owners on this forum that can help you

Thanks for the great help. Unfortunately, none of these diagrams show details of where the wires go from the light relay. It is a Lucas and the wire from terminal w2 has been cut. I don’t want to start experimenting since it carries 12 volts and I fear burning something out. Does anyone know what this wire connects to? It is black and energized all the time

Here are a few photos of 1216 I will post a few more in a day or two. I still don’t know where the broken wire from the light relay is supposed to go.
