Might be awesome but you would'a thought somewhere in those 125,000 miles someone would have mentioned the wheels are on backwards. :) And if anyone else paints their wheels like that...... I like red Ferraris but you can have too much of a good thing!

Joking aside, clearly a car that has got some use, no issues there.

Was just thinking the drop in milage at 124,000 was obviously because he was related to Ernie and figured he needed to fo a belt change? :)

You would think with a car with that many miles the seller would put at least one word in the ad regarding maintenance or something, but no. He wasn't even motivated enough to move it out of the garage to take pics. On the plus side it's a no reserve auction so unless he is a total tool and pulls the auction, it's getting sold.

I somehow missed the odometer reading, and was prepared to bid on this one a few days back. However, the seller promised to deliver high resolution photos & did not come through... now I'm glad he dropped the ball!!!

I knew it wouldn't be perfect, but the price was right and I'm looking for a reason to disassemble a 345!

No reason a 348 can't go 200k+. Nikasil cylinder liners look like new at 70k. Valves need little to no adjustment. Valves still seal up good. John Carbani has 250k+ on a dino. What's the big deal? Car's bid up to $25k! Get out and drive your car!

Meh, this car is just like the other 70 percent of ferrari's .....

Only difference, this one never had the speedo disconnected.

Good for the owner(s) keeping the car honest.

Funny...by "normal" automotive standards, 5,400 miles per year would be considered very low miles! The owner got to use it full on and really didn't suffer much on the sale price, all things considered.

This forum is sometimes so funny,

I'll give you the painted wheels are a little much, but...

All you pole smokers sitting around circle jerking about how few miles you have on your car or how proud you are beacuse you just paid $1200 for an oil change, a new tire or a set of floor mats....

Meanwhile (allegedly) someone out there actually drove and enjoyed driving this 348 5-10-20 times more than most 348 owners do and people find it offesive?

If this car actually has 100K plus miles, then their actual cost per mile is WAY below most owners and their enjoyment per mile is WAY above most owners...how can you go wrong.

People are probably most pissed off because they have paid for their car twice (or more) over in (paranoid) shop service rather than actually driving and enjoying it.

Meister, absolutely no link in your logic my friend. I have a lowish milage 348, she's in beautiful condition and well serviced (I hope :) ) at a main dealer. She's kept in in poor weather, in the UK that's a fair amount, oh and she's kept in a carcoon with the humidity removed. This in no way takes away from my enjoyment of driving or even owning my car. I don't suddenly hate it because I spend money on it, or not get a thrill in the spring getting her out because she's been tucked away for the winter - quite the opposite in fact. I can't see any inherent 'nobility' in high milage vs lower milage, it doesn't mean the owner has enjoyed his car any more than someone who chooses to use it less. It's just different.

That said, I have no trouble with guys who use their cars a lot more than I do, their call.

Totally fair. My jab was aimed at those who view/treasure these cars more as art than actual utilitarian devices.

How a person enjoys their ferrari (or anythign else) is their business.

There is just an over-riding theme around f-chat that any car over "x" miles is a joke. IMO anyone who is lucky enough to own such a work of art and not use it as intened is missing out.

Can't argue with you there. I use mine and really enjoy it. Then I polish her up and spend a bit of time making her look good - enjoy that too. :) When I see a Ferrari that's used in all weathers, normal milage for a car, etc that's just fine. I think it's a shame when you see cars that aren't looked after but that's a different story. My 348 is pretty much immaculate and she'll stay that way. Still looking at track days for next season with perhaps a track driving course thrown in though. Just have to wait and see.

    :)

That's fine Ace, but I also like my baby to look the part so spend a bit of time making sure she does, see nothing wrong with that and don't find the two are mutually exclusive. I do this for myself - have never entered a concours and have no intention of doing so - but she doesn't polish herself. I could "Just drive it" and to hell with the polishing etc but then chances are she wouldn't look like this :)

Just mucking about. Just had the cam belt changed on my daily driver though, and it made 100,000 miles on it without too much bother. Wouldn't have thought of changing it if we didn't all rabbit on about belt changes on here all the time.

This should be an inspiration to you. I say you drive yours until the belt breaks just to see how long it will last and prove the 3yr 30,000 mile guys wrong. I live right by GT Car parts. I could get you the bits to fix it afterwards.

    Lol. I'm just teasing Ernie.

You could indeed prove the 3yr 30,000 mile guys wrong (was originally 2yrs which is absurd), and be really smug about it ........ for about a minute and a half. Then when you figure out which bits of your motor are still good and tally up the 'experiment' costs I'm guessing the smile may become a bit strained :)

I'm pretty new to my car so don't all jump on me, this isn't my fault, but mine hasn't actually hit 30,000 miles yet. The last owner in particular hardly used it at all (I think, but it is backed up by documentation so should be true). Anyway, she's not had the belt changed every 3 years, more like every 5 and that seems ok to me. The way I see it the longer you leave it the more the risk of it going. Probably not an issue till 7 years or so? Maybe a bit more? Not sure but it will go eventually, the risk just increases with time.

Besides if nothing else, you don't want it to go in 'public'. I broke down once in my Ferrari. When the tow truck was there you wouldn't believe how many people showed their 'support' - horns, words of 'condolence' that sort of thing. Gits! :)
