Honestly...? The Enzo in question has always had a piece of black electrical tape over the Assembly Number when it was with the owner... I figured since the car was up for sale, the piece of tape would be removed and I would be able to get the Assembly Number and, while I was there, hopefully get the engine number as well... No such luck since the cars were roped off... I sat in two hours of traffic, each way, just to get those damn arcane numbers and I didn't get either of them... :)

Carbon, i could have told you they were roped off, lol. The F1 was auctioned off on ebay last week and in the pics both cars were roped off. At least you got to see them, right?

Yes...! The pictures they have on their website did not show the Enzo being roped off... Either way, I was ecstatic to see the car - and the McLaren was a huge plus as I had no idea it was there until I walked in and saw it...

NNO that's where you should be playing the FML card..........

"excuse me mr salesman I'm *********** of the Ferrari Market Letter if you want this car to be featured you'll take me out for a spin and let me take as many photo's details as I like"

Thats how you should do it :D

That might work if I was a little (okay, a lot) higher up the food chain and if the car in question were a little lower on the food chain... :)

    nno,

all you had to do was step over the chain and remove the tape!
you would have had the numbers before they thru you out! :)

if the vin is known what would be the purpose of covering the assy & eng. nos.?

also, is there no cross reference publicly available that would give the assy & eng. nos. for a particular vin?

    best
    jeff

It's very difficult to see the Assemly Number with the rear deck lid closed; it's possible; just not very easy... It's impossible to see the engine number with the rear deck lid down... In order to successfully record both numbers, the rear deck lid would have to have been open...

Only the owner knows... But he didn't, as far as I know, cover the engine number; just the Assembly Number... Last time I saw the car, I forgot to look for and record the engine number...

    Not that I know of...

He's talking about the Enzo. When he drove the McLaren, it was owned by someone else. Since he drove it its had 2 owners (3 now, assuming its actually sold).

Those cars belong to Bruce Weiner as mentioned...he sold me my '92 F40 #92336 last year. I remember seeing those cars in his garage...absolutely gorgeous...he's a real meticulous collector.

i guess i should have read the post before i replied. :)
    i don't understand what 2 or 3 more owners on the f1
have to do with the assy & eng nos. or the enzo though?

    Different things

I was pointing out that Carbon was talking about the Enzo

    and then

Was pointing out that the F1 is the one that fuse drove but it has had 2 owners since he drove it so he probably doesn't know the new owners thus cannot get the build and engine #'s

i meant since he was testing it with a prospective purchaser
that they might have held on to some information on the car
or have pics that would show the info.
but alas, the point is moot!

also NNO, if i happen to wonder by that dealership i'll do my
best to covertly obtain the needed data! :)

    hey carbon

thats dedication man! thanks for posting. yes!!

i really love the sober interior of the F1 - nothing comes close to how well that thing is screwed together - it just shows.

all ive heard of the MF1 is that all buyers recieved a special TAG watch with the car - which is very rare to see.

the burnt orange color (unless there was more than one in that color - i suspect yes) i heard that one in that shade belonged to one of two Argentinian brothers - both owned one each!

    thanks - later

Thanks for the pics Carbon.

Seems very surprising to me that Bruce would sell these cars so soon after acquiring them - well at least with the F1, he's only had that since September. If I ever got an F1 I would never let it out of my sight. :D

Also, I guess it doesn't matter since it sold anyway, but that dealership needs to be slapped around for their description of the F1.

    Power brakes - NO!
    Power steering - NO!
    ABS brakes - NO!
    Airbags - NO!
    Cassette player - NO!
Tilt wheel - maybe with a spanner in hand, and even then I think it only telescopes.

What they should have done was listed all the features that were added to the car during it's refit:

One of a Kind Orange Kandy Paint
    Black & Orange Interior
    Removable F1 Steering Wheel
Carbon Fiber Kick Plates & Doorpulls
    Custom Matched Luggage
    Color Matched Engine
    Matching Orange Tool Chest
    Integrated Communications System
    - CDMA & GSM Phone
    - 3 way Intercom with Headsets
    - 2 way Radio
    - Noise Canceling Headsets
    World Wide Navigation System
    Wide Screen Video Monitor
    100GB MP3 System (20K+ songs)
    Front & Rear Radar Detector
    Oversized Radiator & Fans
    Upgraded A/C
    Wide view racing mirrors
    Xenon Lights

I also think the price was a little low at $1.6M, but the mileage was high at nearly 23,000 so maybe that's a wash.
