Just looking at some of the Novitec pricing for wheels for fun. Can someone please tell me what makes a set of wheels worth $13,000??? Serious question.
They are made in response to market demand. Otherwise ball players who are paid millions to chase balls and Wall Street scumbags who have stolen our IRAs would not know how to spend their hard earned monies.
That is crazy. I looked into the BBS wheels that the bmw and ferrari gt2 cars use and even those were only about $8k. How can novitec wheels be worth almost twice as much as race wheels?
What does these wheels look like? I would never pay more than half of that, for a non-original or non-racing wheel...
So you can say you paid $13,000 for a set of wheels. I had a set of wheels on an old car that were made by a company that made lower end wheels as well. In fact mine were the same model of a lesser priced wheel with the exception that they had a little stamp in the metal on them. Somehow that more than quadrupled the price.
I had the Novitec centerlocks on my 02 360, it was nice that you only have 1 36mm nut to take off. I think the $13k is for the rims and hub kit I believe. Glad I did not have to buy it since they where on my car when I purchased it. They where on the heavy side when mounted thou with the 325/25 R20 rears.
David- NF1 center locks are only about $6200 a set, not including tires. I sold a set for ~$3000 because they would not fit my 575M. OEM GTO wheels are ~$14K if you buy a set for your 599 (they fit). At least one owner has already done that. The Novitec wheels have always been expensive. The NF3s for the F430, 599, and California are very expensive, too, but look great. My car has NF2s, which are not too bad at the same price as the center lock NF1s. Taz Terry Phillips
So vote with your wallets. What makes a new car worth $450K, like the GTO? If you have the money and want the look, $13K is not that much. To me, a lot of money, but not to many on this site. Crud, my brakes cost $21,300, and most people would consider that insane. Taz Terry Phillips Image Unavailable, Please Login
And that is exactly the problem, tuners expect that a Ferrari or any other Super Car owner is ready to flush his/her money down the drain, but they do not realize that one worked hard to become "Rich" enough to buy and maintain a Super Car. They trim their prices accordingly to those who have access to easy money, like PAPA is a King, UNCLE is a dictator, GRANDPA is a "Godfather" that have underpaid workers on an Asian continent or the IN LAWS have an OIL well . . . etc . . . For me and a majority of the guys here, we have to work for the money and US $ 13.000,- are a lot, even if the car might have costed more than US $ 150.000,- The Novitecs are worth approx. 10% of the car's price, is it really legit to pay so much for a set of wheels? The car itself offers a lot for the money than a set or rims I don't think that the Novitecs are better, lighter or even more High-Tech than the OZ Superforgiata CL that you can get for half the price - The OZs are even better looking!!! Before considering to buy the Novitecs, I would consider other brands like OZ, HRE or BBS or simply stay with the stock rims, changing the color of the wheels can make a huge difference But, to each his own . . . I think brakes are an area worth spending money on. It's all relative though. I just spent £800 ($1300) on new brakes for my MINI as I ruined the last set of discs and melted my calliper pistons with excessive heat... and my wife thinks I'm decidedly insane. Next car I get will have space for a big brake kit that can dissipate the temperatures I seem to generate. All the best, Andrew.
