    I was satirical...
When Builders switched to Carbon frames, It was the jump to Lightspeed..
I agree worth every cent..I lifted that bike with my pinky..

If you take a nine speed hub, put 9 gears outside the hub with a derailer, and have 3 sprockets up front,

Dahh...you have 243 speeds...hows that for close ratio GB

How are those wheels in side winds?

I have a couple of high end bikes...Scott CR1 pros or team or something. All carbon jobbies that they race with. About 13 lbs but 14 and change with the computer, toolkit, lights, etc.

I almost went for 10-11lb bike that was about $7500 on sale, but figured I could just practice and build muscle and it would give me the same time advantage and would be a lot better for me.

Have always felt guilty spending more than what people buy cheap student cars for on a bike but it's a weakness of mine. I love the technology. Thinking of converting an old bike of mine to a fixie as well. Anyone here into those?

Btw, the bike in the first picture...if you get something like that, be careful of picking up pebbles in your rear tire--once they get wedged into that tight clearance space, they can really chew up the carbon fibre as well as the tire surface, not to mention that they apply a serious braking force! I guess on a smooth time trial track it's not a problem, and that's where these puppies belong.

The wheels aren't terrible in side winds, however they are definitely more noticeable than lower profile ones. I'm not a light rider per say, 165-170lbs, so it's not as bad as it may be on someone with a few less lbs. If a big gust comes along it'll move the bike around a bit but I haven't ever felt out of control with them, they do sound super cool though once you get over 20mph.

+1 on the pebbles getting caught in the cutout, fortunately it makes a very very terrible sounding noise when they do, so you tend to stop pretty quick when that happens to clear em out.
