hi all, im 13 and i finished rod machado's private pilots handbook i'm looking to buy another book what would you recommand thx a lot!!
Well, looking for fairly dry and specific to private pilot skills or just looking for a good fun book about flying?
Find a young CFI with a fair amount of experience - someone who has soled at least 10 students, for example, and invest in as many minutes/hours of flight training as you/your parents can afford - you will be forever the better off because you learned to control the airplane before you learn to drive a car. The negative transferance is a major handicap after you drive an automobile. The library is full of good literature.
Handbook of Aeronautical knowledge and if your really feeling like some cut and dry stuff there is always the FAR/AIM... the AIM is good the FAR is well, government rules and regs so there a tad boring.
You might have fun and learn specifics both with the Gleim Private Pilot study guide and questions. Has chapter summaries for everything you need to know for FAA written and then book and DVD question sets to prepare for written.
In addition to the reading you might want to investigate the Civil Air Patrol for one-on-one with pilots and planes, not to mention it being a worthy organization.
I think that Spasso's suggestion to join the CAP is a good idea. You can learn about aviation and those who are involved in it. You are fortunate to have many opportunities to guide you along the route of your choice of an aviation career. When I was 13 the only outlet available to me was to hang out at airports and beg rides with the pilots. I eventually was permitted to work and sometimes fly with the crop dusters. You have a much better chance now with the CAP. Switches
Yes! Definitely join C.A.P. !! I can help you there, as I am an officer in the organization. You can PM me for more info if you are interested. There is just too much to list here that you can learn about, and experience! Here is just one of the activities that C.A.P., Group 224, arranged for Cadets in the group. http://a1pilotdude.googlepages.com/ This flight was in October this year. For more C.A.P. info, see http://www.cap.gov/visitors/quick_info/for_students.cfm http://www.cap.gov Skyraider

Hey i might go for a discover fligh at kblm with eagle view if the weather permitts. which fbo did u go to and which instuctor would you recommed happy thanksgiving
Enjoy the flight at Eagles View. You'll have a great time, get to sit in the pilots seat, and actually fly the airplane. (with the Instructor beside you) Priscilla, (The Owner) will take care of you, and put you with an instructor that will fit your personality. She's very good at that. Listen to what she has to say. I went to Eagles View too.
