Maybe it’s just my being anal retentive, but when I looked at the interior photos, and especially the driving video, my eyes were drawn to the opening in the center of the dash due to its missing one if the three air vent covers. So I wonder why, if someone was charging $180K for the car's restoration including $18,150 in parts just to replace and reupholster the seats (including $750 to emboss the headrests), he didn’t purchase and pop in a new air vent cover for a couple of hundred bucks. Just sayin…

I really feel for the guy. He was very engaged with the auction and focused on what the car is, not how it got there or the ridiculous expense involved. When I see stories like that, I'm so glad that I do all of my own work. It may take me a lot longer to get it done, but in the end, I have complete faith in what was done and know it was done at the best cost.

The seller has shown himself to be an absolute gentleman in the face of the ridicule of Donnie Callaway and I am happy he was able to make a sale and move on. Class act.

Donnie missed many obvious items such as header tank sticker,
you can see the seller really got the long stick

Thanks for posting that. It does my heart good to know there might still be some justice in this world.
Couldn't happen to a more deserving individual.

All the guys who have their cars out at his hangers. I feel for them. What a disaster to get their cars back. And all the parts Donnie has hoarded over the years. Wonder what happens to all that?

I mean- it was a disaster for me to get my car back and that’s before Donnie went to jail.

So he stole* all that money presumably from his clients but he can’t afford a lawyer? With a P.D. he’ll surely cop a plea. P.D.s generally don’t like to go to trial.

Its a blessing. Now they can get their car finished by someone with integrity and competency. A large bump in the road no question but in the long run probably no more difficult or frustrating, less expensive and a much better chance of getting a good car back.

I had to hire a lawyer to get a car out of a similar situation. The guy died and was seriously delinquent on his rent. Fortunately it was the only car in the shop and the landlord wasn’t uncooperative, so things went relatively smoothly after we gathered all the parts.

Do you have details we do not? With some very heavy application of between the line reading it sounds to me like its a case of forging documents to take ownership of, possibly selling a client car to recover a bill? I can see an ethically challenged shop owner thinking that is justified. 400 large is a big bond for that unless its a very expensive car. But there are only so many scenarios I can squeeze forgery into.

Brian, I think you may have intended this for @wildrnesxperienc. If for me, no, I have no other information about the Donnie case.

I have known something like this was going to happen. This guy is a repeat offender with quite a history. A lot of drama behind the scenes. Not looking good for our boy.
