snore! I give up ferrari > elise = reality I dont care about price, i dont care what dr tax drives into a wall. You said your turbo elise will beat a ferrari blah blah, thats where my response to this thread came from. Everyone has their own taste in cars, and i really dont feel like getting in a pissing contest. If you wanna hear the elise isn't a chick car and its cooler then a ferrari go to celica.org side note: If Emil wanted to buy the lamarossa would you think that car was cool too?
I think thats a wrong accusation to make, trust me if you got the car on track with Rob's car, the lotus would be left far behind, he has nothing to be jealous of And the part about the Lotus 7, if youve read Roland's responses he said he wasnt even really racing or something of that nature The Elise did make a run around the Top Gear test track, it was a wet one but the elise only managed a time of 1:35.. Value for money yes, but 360-taking, hardly
WEll kennyh said with 250 horsepower it could take. But we know the Elise doesnt have that and will not have that in the next 2 years at least. So that is all speculation. ugh i could go on and on.
You could say that about the 360 too, with so many horsepower more.. cant be iffing and butting bro, fact is on paper right now it cant beat a 360
ok I personally did not say it could beat a 360. I could care less if it does. The speculation has gone rampant when I dont think anyone was out to compare cars. but i cant speak for kennyh he said what he said and thats fine with me. If someone got offended it makes no sense. But calling it a chick car is just plain silly, not even and ounce of respect for one of the best handling cars in the world. thats my point. but the argument was taken to far by tough guy robi. I mean come on relax buzzkill.
ok im not even getting into any of that, but I'd have to say the Elise is a tremendous bang-for-the-buck car, if only it came out a year earlier it would be my daily driver in school
argument taken too far, maybe if you didn't have such a hard on for the car you wouldn't be offended by an opinion.
I love the Elise. I love what it is. I love the way it looks. I love the way it handles. I love the fact that it can out accellerate a Viper and get better gas mileage than a Civic (My experience, not #s from an idiot automotive journo). I love the fact that there's nothing inside the thing save a few knobs for Air and Music. I've got a deposit on one, should be here in Q4 - Argent (or is it Ardent?) Red, Sport Package, Comfort Package. (The sport package weight savings with the comfort package additions is only -2 lbs net, but it -30 lbs in the un-sprung weight -- again, confirmed with scales, not magazine #s) But, I sort of agree with Rob. It's nothing I'd want as a daily driver. It's VERY difficult to get in and out of. It's VERY uncomfortable on trips that take longer than 40 minutes. It's VERY light on the amenities. The jury is till out on reliability. The jury is still out on resale value. The jury is still out on attention getting. That being said, unless I wind up not being able to afford it, I think I will always have a Ferrari. I love the 355. I'm falling in love with the 430. I love [most] everything about Fishbulb. The cars are so difficult to compare because they're meant for different things. I'd not compare a Mitsubishi Fuso Box Van with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo8. Sure, they have wheels, tires, seats, and radios, but that's about where the comparison ends. Sadly, in what we look for, it's hard to achieve the "ultimate". Striking the balance between a car you can drive comfprtably and easily and nightmarishly fast is an impossible feat. If I wanted to make the 355 faster, I'd pull out the audio, AC, Passenger seat, etc. But then, it'd be not so fun to drive to places like Hershey. (That's why I love the import tuner crowd -- the strive for that 1/4 mile time in cars with 800lb stereos.) So, until the 430 Challenge Stradale comes out with 900hp, weighs 1300 lbs, has dual "captains chairs" (like that one in Rene's house) and a 2500 watt stereo -- people like us are gonna have to "craft" the automobile experience to our own needs and desires. Whose will be best? Mine.
Definitely not. The "Lamo" would put too much of a strain on my checkbook and psyche. I could not handle it.
Has anyone ever noticed this similarity: Hot chick = Dude she's hot as hell Butter chick = Great personality 360 = Dude that's hot as hell Lotus/NSX (or insert a car that forgot to have balls attached) = Handles great and it would be awesome "chick car"
