I put a deposit down on a 2000 Titanium/Bordeaux 360 (21K mi) out of Pompano, FL- Don L Leasing. Heard they were a bit shadey, but there is always someone w/a bad experience. Long story short, they were not forthcoming w/service history other than carfax, which anyone can get. Spoke to The Collection where it was serviced for the last 6 years and received detail of history w/numerous problems such as battery replaced (8X's), overheated a year ago today. Shelton Ferrari doesn't do PPI's anymore, so DonL is going to do the inspection for me. Am I nuts to move forward? The VIN# is ZFFYU51A7Y0120323. ANY info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....

I bought a similar car in January-no records, codes. Searched every dealer and found the originating one in Portland. They had the radio code but no seciurity code. The used car dealer in Md. has stood behind their warrantee and I've been happy. If the price is right and your dealer checks it out-buy it and enjoy.

In a word, YES! Possibly an abusive previous owner. There are too many of these cars around for you to take this chance. CARFAX does not tell all either. Hope you can get out of it and keep looking.

Run, don't walk from Don L leasing!!! I had no idea who they were when I started my search, but after a few simple pre-purchase questions I knew they were no good. There is a nice silver/bordeaux at Lake Forest Ferrari in Chicago, they seem eager to move!

    Good luck!

I totally agree. There are a LOT of older 360s around with a clean pedigree and low miles.

A well maintained (older) Ferrari will cost you decent $$ to keep running well. A poorly maintained one with no service history can be a financial disaster.

In all the research I've done, I've found one thing rings true about Ferraris... there's no such thing as a "great deal". Good cars cost good money.

Run the purchase-process with the logical side of your brain and once you have a clean car in your garage THEN get all emotional!!

In my opinion, PPIs are mandatory for these cars.

Good luck. Please let us know what you end up doing.

I was in a similar situation when I bought my first ferrari, a yellow 98 355 F1 spider. No records provided. Sadly, I got hooked on the car as it looked incredible, drove great, and I had 2 quick inspections done on it in the city where I flew to purchase it. What a mistake. Car turned out to be a real lemon!! To add insult to injury I received an email from someone on Ferrarichat the week after I'd bought the car saying they knew its history and I'd gotten a bad deal. And then, of course, I had to endure all the "what, are you crazy, you bought it without full records...". I'm wise enough now to "hear" the strong recommendations on this post advising, run away from it, there are lots of great 360s out there. Happy to say I now have a lovely CS and my shaken faith has been restored. Good luck.

Come on, you're going to let the selling dealer, and one with a rep like theirs do the PPI? Are you serious or is this a joke???

There are plenty of 360's out there for sale, but if this is the one you must have call Tim Stanford (954-764-7824) as stated above and have him do the PPI, he's one of the best!

No one seemed to pick up on new battery ....eight times....Either serious electrical gremlin or chronic overheating cooking the battery. A gamble if offering more than $85K, but at that price they would have to be admitting something wrong.
