I will be picking up my 430 stickshift coupe tomorrow. First made a deposit 9/23/2002. That's only 1058 days to get one! Dave
Dave, nothing less than congrats! Knowing it's a coupe, glad to see you'll be able to keep your "Hardtop" name! Just remember your 328 is now "sweet 16". Don't neglect her with the new child... she needs your support more than ever!
Dave, Congratulations! Quick question: Why is it not called a "berlinetta" instead of a coupe? Perhaps, it's a distinction without a difference and just a different name for a different era? Dane
My guess is that it's because there's no need to distinguish between the berlinetta GTB and targa GTS.
Right and I don't mean to steal this thread's thunder but isn't just saying "GTB" or "berlinetta" appropriate? It's like saying "the B-1 bomber" when the "B" already stands for "bomber." In addition, isn't "targa" P-car term for "spyder?" Then, I think of Porsche's that carried "spyder" designations. Oh, man, I'm getting more confused the more I type... Back to the 430. Please post some photos when able and, again, congratulations. Dane
Congrats, Dave, that's awesome! Please tell us color and options, and of course pics when available. Gary
Congratulations on getting the car. Were you offered F1 equipped cars while you were waiting for the 6-speed?
Dave asked me to take him to FoD to pick up his car today. And he asked that I bring the camera. If someone can resize the pics, I can email them. For some reason I can't figure out how to resize on this computer. The car is really nice. He chose the shields and red calipers and they look super. The most surprising part is the exhaust. I was a little shocked at how aggressive it sounds - deeper than the Tubi I had on my 355 but with that same kind of shreik, although it was only at partial throttle and under 5500 rpms. It seems like a real beast - way beastier than any 360 I've driven. So who can resize the pics?
Alright here they are...you sent me 3 emails, but only 2 had pictures in them, so i've got 4 out of an assumed 6 that were taken? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks to all for their kind thoughts. Sorry my ugly mug spoiled the car shots. Here's some answers to some questions: The equipment: Red/tan/black carpets and pipng. Red tach & aluminum trim which goes well with the stick shift. Options: power daytonas, shields, red calipers, piping, leather headliner. MSRP 178,297. tuttebeme, I actually got this about a year earlier because I was first customer for a stick, but this could vary from dealer to dealer. Sticks and paddles are considered separate models, not mere options, so allocations dictate when a stick comes in. Impressions from initial 90 mile run: Obviously, it's getting broken in and I am not used to the controls, so haven't thrashed it yet. I have no prior experience with modern Ferraris, so can't do comparos. However, I am happy that it really feels/runs like a Ferrari despite all the modern advancements. The shifter is truly a joy, very precise and smooth. It invites quicker shifting than older models. The steering is very precise, a little less quick than I anticipated, but that is not a criticism. At quick road speeds, the car is utterly flat, feels like no effort. The ride, even in sport mode is smoother than expected, race mode stiffens noticably. When just cruising, it is pretty quiet and very comfortable. I could easily cross country in it. Step on it a little and Mr Hyde comes out with a snarl! I'll let you know about the radio if I ever turn it on! All in all, a great first impression. Dave
