discovered this weekend that one of my 14X7 campy rims on my 308 has a 2 inch stress crack in it where the inner wheel meets the rim...additionally, it is leaking air from said crack. I have heard that these rims have a limited shelf life due to the magnesium corroding (I had those vain like blisters a few years back that I sanded out and refinished) is that true? Can they be repaired? is it worth it and will it be safe? I'm skeptical of buying a used rim as I don't want to run into the same problem. Are those 16" replica rims still available and from whom?

The rim is not worth repairing because finding a used rim is cheaper. I would only repair the rim if it were a hard to find wheel but the 308 14" wheels are in no demand.

As for the 16" wheels. www.superformance.co.uk has them and so do some guys in the US (not sure who).

Watch Ebay, 14" rims are available there all the time. I'm sure you can find a nice replacement.

The Superformance rims are now distributed in the USA by T. Rutlands. They are about $1600 a set. A bargain! And you can put decent tires on them. And they look GREAT!
