Just picked up my 87 328 after the 15,000 service and was shocked by the price. I did have 4 new tires put on (which I bought from Tirerack), but I paid $6,592.20 AFTER the 15% discount. Does this seem high for the Tri State area? I was thinking in the $4,000 to $5,000 range before mounting tires.

Does seem a little rich. Do you know exactly what was remedied? Typically for older cars, they always find additional things to take car of when they start the mechanical work, and your bill may reflect the cost / labor to take care of those as well.

I had my 308 in for a 60K service last year...or is that $60K service?

I checked with all the major dealers in the area and all were comparable within a few hundred dollars of each other. Ferrari's aren't cheap. I'd say your bill is a little high, but not astronomically.

You absolutely pay more when a dealer does the work both in parts, labor, and time. It costs a lot to have that Ferrari Ramparte on everything.

Pick the bill apart and you will surely get ulcers and be enraged. The alternative is 3rd party service or pick up a wrench yourself.

Sticker shock sucks, and the damage is done.
My recommendation is go for a drive on a wonderful spring day & forget about it.

I don't mind paying for top service by a well known and respected dealer, it only adds to the value of your car. I bought my 328 5 years ago and it is worth more today than when I purchased it. That is the upside to these cars. I was just just checking to get your opinions. Thanks !!
And I will admit, it did drive nicely this morning..... may have to play hooky this afternoon...

Steve - it seems that beyond the cost of the 15K servicing, the three items noted above are what really boosted the bill, adding another $2K+ to the price. If you're curious about whether these charges are market, call up a couple of other dealers and talk to them about what they would charge for the same. By feeling out a couple of the authorized facilities you can compare and contrast. If the numbers are substantially lower than what you were charged, you can always double-back to your mechanic and discuss further.

That's if you're really curious though. Given that this has been paid, and the car is running well, I say do what Clyde does and drive the damn thing! - :)

Better yet, join us for the run that JT is organizing. It promises to be a hoot!

    Best.

Thanks Vik, I am going to see if I can make it this weekend. I wasn't sure if I was going to have a car though. I need to get out and "rough up" the new tires. That should be fun !!!! I can't wait to see what thenew oversized (225/50 & 245/45) Potenzas feel like.I will respond to that thread later today and by the way, it does sound awesome.

Don't buy the car if you can't afford the tune-up!!! If it wasn't for the discount, this work would have been almost $7,700, which just seemed high, that's all. I don't mind spending money but I hate wasting it... could have gotten a couple more boxes of cubans instead ....

    Your input is appreciated.
