Anyone going to Lime Rock for the Weekend Driving School/Track Event?

I'm thinking a little professionsal driving instruction might be good for me, and fun.

Any feed back from past attendees? Anyone planning on going this year? If I go I might skip the party/dinner since I probably will be sans wife and know no one. Yet I don't want to drive there and back two twice.

Sensitive question I do not want to ask my insurance company: Does my normal liability comrehensive collision Ferrari car insurance cover me when I am on the track taking fast driving instructions? If not, is there anything like airline flight insurance I can purchase for two days?

You nhave to really mess up to wreck your car, Its extremely rare

although many insurance companies have found ways to not pay you

This event is not limited to Ferraris only. I'm going to be there with my Corvette, and a couple of guys I know will be there with non-F-cars. Last year, it was limited to F-cars only because the vintage Ferrari races were there, sponsored by FNA, and FNA insisted it be a F-only event. But this year, vintage is not there, and it's a normal FCA-ESR event, open to non-Fcars.

As for track insurance, there are a couple of companies offering it, but it is expensive. And generally, it is liability only, not collision and comprehensive. If you've never been on the track before, you will be in the green group, and will only go on the track with an instructor in the car. And they do a good classroom session before you even go out. The instructors at the FCA events are very good, and it's a great opportunity to have a track experience in a relatively safe environment. LRP is a lower speed track because it is short. Which is not to say that you can't get into trouble -- you can! But for a newbie, it's a great place to start and the FCA event is well run.

As for the dinner, you should attend. It's a great way to meet people, talk cars and racing and have some fun. It's at the Wake Robin Inn, and the food is actually pretty good. Everyone is very friendly and it's a fun evening. If you need a room, the Wake Robin is probably fully booked. Try Iron Masters Inn. They are close to the track and may not be fully booked yet. The Interlaken is a nice place, but rather expensive during the summer months, but worth checking as well.

Any questions, PM me. I've been to a ton of events at LRP and a ton of FCA events as well and can fill you in. And look for me at the track (Black Corvette Z06, #52), say Hi, and hang out with us.

    Regards,
    Steve

I "really messed up" on Saturday when the brakes on my DB9 failed and I kissed another car on the hill and stopped on the grass. The dealer had never changed the fluid in 2 1/2 years and 22,000 miles.
A very hard lesson learned about brake fluid!!
I am talking to the dealer about the situation. To be continued....

Thanks for the information. This really sounds like serious fun, get to drive fast and it's legal. I'm dying to learn more about the capabilities of my car and be a better all around sports car driver. Sending in my application today.

A couple things: I did my PPI at Miller Motor Cars and the tech said you should have a recent service/inspection (my PPI qualified). As I have an F1 he strongly recommended changing transmission fluid after tracking the car. He said he personally saw F1 problems after tracking without a fluid change.

Check out the URL in this thread for more info. I think I saw mufflers optional but roll over protection required (360-430 spiders OK).
