Strange story - it reads to me almost like it was his own on board camera that they used against him...did he post it on the internet or something that they caught him with, or was something left out?

159 MPH? That's pretty decent performance for a mid-range GM! The biggest engine is supposed to be a 2.8L Turbo V6 with 255HP. According to wikipedia, the top speed is only 155MPH - perhaps he had the wind at his back :D.

Kind of like the American judge recently who refused to charge the motorcycle driver with wreckless driving at 150 or so because he wasn't weaving or anything. Just blasting down the highway.

Good to see sense at last, it was an empty motorway and one of the best trained police drivers on the force and maybe it wasn't the best time to test the performance of a new car i.e. on public roads, but it is a good play by the judge who realises that speed isn't simply evil and that skilled and controlled driving even at huge speeds isn't necessarily dangerous!

Going 91 in 30 zone can never be considered anything but foolish and irresponsible.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! And the fact that he was an officer makes it even worse because he is supposed to uphold the law, not break it (for his own enjoyment). I hope this guy gets made an example of.
