It is near time for the 15K Major on my 99 355F1. How many of you Texas 355 owners have had your service done @ LOD (old FOD I understand) and would recommend them? Any technicians I should request? What should I expect $ wise?

Lamborghini Dallas and Ferrari of Dallas are at two different locations, two different establishments. Then there is Norwood's too.

I'd recommend Norwood's. The service will be just as good, if not better, & it will be less expensive.

Mike at LoD is supposed to be one of the best in the country. He has never worked on my car, but he has given me a tour of the shop and is incredibly knowledgeable. He did the work on the F40 prototype thats been talked about on here. Generally speaking, LoD is one of the best dealerships I've ever visited. Despite the high dollar eye candy sitting on the floor, they are always happy (within reason) to let folks tour and drool. Jonathan Peck, sales guy over there, is a member of F-chat.

Shortly after I bought my car Norwoods replaced my TO bearing. James did the work and he also has an excellent reputation. Very nice guy and had the part overnighted to him so he could complete the work quickly. I think my car was in the shop for just a couple of days. Norwoods also has suprisingly affordable labor rates for an F-car.

I would highly recommend either of these two shops.

I don't really have much to add to what has already been said, but as Matt pointed out, LoD and FoD are 2 different facilities. LoD is not now nor has it ever been a Ferrari dealership. FoD is known as Boardwalk Ferrari since it changed hands a few months ago.

I will also vouch for Norwoods service. They've been maintaining my car since I bought it and their service is outstanding. I'd guess they'll have your car finished faster than most of the others too. Call LoD and Norwoods and ask them for an estimate for your service. You can't go wrong with either place.

Does having a non Ferrari dealership work on your car do anything to the warranty? I am approaching 5k miles in my 360 and will be looking for someone to do the 5k service. I got a quote from FoD and thought it was a bit higher than what I have seen quoted on this board.

If not mistaken, I believe Mike at LoD used to be the head mechanic at FoD a few years back. He always worked on my Testarossa and he definitely knows his stuff.

Yes Mike used to be the lead at FOD but he is now at Lambo and is considered by many to be one of the top Ferrari wrenches around. I had an interesting experience traveling with Mike and Stuart from Stuart's Paint and Body. We were at the RM Auction in Monetary during Pebble Beach week and there was a 288GTO going on the block. Between Stuart's body shop knowledge and the amazing depth Mike showed in mechanicals the GTO became much more than just an amazing car. Mike pointed out issues and areas that no regular ferrari guy would ever know. gets the "Been there Got that" award

I don't really know the wrenches at Boardwalk as their set up is not as Friendly and the guys at Norwoods always get a huge thumbs up from everyone on this site.

I would listen to Jim. He has had his share of problems with the car and the fact that he still takes it to Norwoods and cares enough about them to recommend them, talks volumes to me.

my father had the 15k major service done at LOD last july on his TR. Mike did the work. He is great. We went in there several times over the course of the service being done and he was always willing to take the time to explain what was being done. it took about 2 weeks longer than what they told us but it was also right before Monteray. I thought the price wasnt that bad. I know it was around 5k. my dad went to Norwoods, Ferrari of Dallas, Ferrari of Houston and some place in Alanta, and LOD was in the middle. All said and done i know that my dad will have whatever work in the future done at LoD and with Mike.
