Hi, does anyone know if my 1999 550 has a 16 pin port for plugging in the reader ? if so, where is the port ? under the footwell or steering column ? cheers marce
I believe it's near the base of the steering wheel if you have one. If not, you'll have to tap into the wiring in the footwell kick panels just forward of the doors and use a 3 pin adaptor. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/diagnostic-tester.602214/#post-146670332 https://www.ebay.com.au/p/13015902865?iid=113830656852
wow thanks Ian...that's great info. I was hoping to be able to use the same reader I have for the grantourismo (16 pin) but obviously the guy I bought it from said yes just to make the sale. I took the car for a spirited drive and the 'slow down' light stopped presenting. as I am 300kms from my tech I guess another reader it is going to have to be. do you also have a 550, and do you use this foxwell device ? cheers marce
No to both, Marce. As Foxwell users have found, the supposedly Ferrari 550-compatible software doesn't work. I'd say your Grantourismo 16 pin will work with the "Fiat" 3-pin to 16 pin OBD2 adaptor. Just plug it into those 3 pin plugs in the footwells as shown in the photos. I bought one from the link above and it works fine on myF355. A good investment for around $10.
