Hi. I have been locking for 16" rims for my 308 GTB for a while. Now I find some, but it's fare from me so I have to send a friend of me. How can he see if it's not replica? They should be Speedline SL 139. In which cars did they use these rims? I have now 14" Chromodora and I have never heard about Speeline for this cars. Are this magnesium rims? And what's the price for four 16" rims like this in good condition? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Harald, These look like original speedlines from a pre abs 328 car. Speedline suppied ferrari during the early/ late 80's I think even f40 rims were speedline but im no expert. Originals should have ferrari cast in to the rim around the outside with 6" j on the front and another number which i cant remember at the moment and the rears should have ferrari 8" j something or other. Also on the inside of the rim on all 5 star spokes there should be a casting number with ferrari cast in one has the date they were cast , one is a part no I guess etc etc. As for a fair price ...umm who knows depends what they are asking and how much you want them and what you will pay, I have a set of 5, 3 fronts 2 rears ., but i would never sell as i want to keep them should i part with the car, running compomotive 17" 10" rears 8" fronts paid £800.00 (mint) on ebay. Hope this helps Mark.
Mark is correct These wheels are for a 328 not a 308!They will fit a 308 however but are not correct for the car! Speedline also made the F40 wheels for Ferrari and the 288 GTO! You say your 308 is running 14' wheels so I presume it is a carby 308.Speedline wheels in 16' were a factory option for the carby cars. Hope this helps, Cheers Pete
Have you seen "3-piece" Speedlines? These 16" wheels are on my 308 QV. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The wheel pictured is for a non-ABS 328. The front pair will say 7Jx16 and the back pair 8Jx16. The 308 QV also runs this size wheel. I don't know about the offsets and have not seen it published for the various 3x8 series wheels. Nevertheless, using the correct offset is very important for proper handling and long life of suspension components.
Front = 7Jx16 H2 - ET 11 Rear = 8Jx16 CH - ET 11 The word SPEEDLINE is imprinted inbetween the wheel size and the serial number (ie. SL XXX,XXX)
Can anyone tell me if non-ABS 328s ever came from the factory with chrome Speedlines? I am looking at an 86 328 GTS and the owner says the chrome wheels are factory.
Harald, Also just rembered if your looking to stay with the original look but move up to 16" superformance do some very good new repro wheels for the 308 in different colours too very reasonable cost see www.superformance.co.uk, their exhausts a pretty cool too! Cheers Mark
> I have been locking for 16" rims for my 308 GTB... I have non-ABS 328 wheels on my '79 308GTB. They work just fine. Offsets are right because what matters is that the centerline on the new wheel is in the same place as the original wheel (at least as far as the suspension is concerned. Body panel clearance may be another problem.) BTW, 328 wheels will NOT directly bolt up on the front of a carbed 308! The front grease cap will not clear the center opening in the wheel! You either have to have the center diameter machined out a bit or fabricate a different kind of grease cap. I did the later but when I rework the car this winter, I'll probably have the wheels machined and go back to the correct grease cap.
Thank you for all the answers. I already have a set of 16" 3 piece wheels and one set Chromodora 14", but I am still dreaming of the real 16" And yes, my car is a 1977 euro GTB But is Speedline AND Ferrari imprinted in the wheels?
I think you'll find that those speedlines (pre-ABS 328) are fairly rare, and quite expensive. They'll look fine on your carb'd 308 but QV 16 inch wheels will look a little more correct. Superformance in the UK makes very nice replicas of the QV 16s (www.superformance.co.uk) for a very reasonable price - around 1,000 Euros. I have a set on my '82 and they bolt right up with the correct offset front and rear and look reasonably period-correct.
I have now already bought them. I pay 1200 Euro for wheels. The tires look like new, but they are 10 years old. I did not see that the wheels were different from the one I have before now. But I don't think it's many that can see the different. So it' the Qv wheels that I should have.... but It's to late now.
I find out that the front wheels not fit, as you told me. Is it possible to use the center wheel badge after you machined out the the center?
