Around 24 coupes and 42 barchettas (but several had been rebodied like 0030MT, 0032MT, 0040M etc, + probably two chassis for the same 024MB serial number)...

    Many thanks!

The one at Toni Auto must be 035/S, it simply cannot be any other car. I don't have completion date for 029/S, but think 029/S and 035/S were the last ones completed.

Fchatter Ted Walker's great website "fotoracing.co.uk" has two wonderful black-white pix showing 035 S in Rome in the very early 1950s (when owned by Prince Vittorio Massimo).

Everything sorts out beautifully, the only mystery that still remains is which car Franco Cornacchia raced in MM50 (#659): 027/S or 029/S.

Back with the car subject of this thread (025S). We said Marzotto’s family bought 025S in 1949. Then it must be this one in the background of Marzotto’s courtyard in the famous colour picture with 0026M and 012I in 1950. Also raced at Giro dell’Umbria 1954 with #8xx (don’t know who entered it).
It was originally a Notchback coupe S2 with Cabo sport wheels and additional headlights in the nose, apparently dark blue when new.

By 1954 025 S was owned by the fourth owner Mario Donati Guerrieri of Perugia who had it on Perugia plates.

Thanks Marcel. 025S must have been entered in "Gran Turismo oltre 1.300 cc" class in 1954 Giro dell'Umbria. Possibly DNF as it doesn't appear in any result.

This is really confusing, we now have too many Series 2 cars. I must agree that it would correct the problem, if 025/S was completed as a normal notchback and converted into a fastback only later, maybe after an incident in Giro dell Umbria.

Yes, exactly. A car rolled at a race (1954 Giro dell’Umbria or another race) and repaired with a fastback roof. That would explain why the car in post #10 has a fastback roof but with a notchback body.

Count Giannino Marzotto purchased 166 Inter Touring chassis #0075 S on 3 October 1951. He was the second owner.
By 13 August 1953 Marzotto had sold it to the 3rd owner Paolo Ravegnani resident in Ferrara. The 1954 Giro dell'Umbria was held on the 2 June 1954. 17 days later, 19 June 1954, 0075 S was sold to Silvano Bernabei in Rome.
TTBOMK 0075 S also had large additional lights below the headlights but the turn signal lights were different than on the car supposed to be 025 S.
Was the Giro dell Umbria 1954 car possibly 0075 S and not 025 S ?

Because the car #8xx at the 1954 Giro dell’Umbria in post #34 is clearly a notchback coupe (look especially the large rear window).
0075S was a fastback coupe with small rear window and clearly not the car pictured in post #34...

The photo is rather poor. Does the Giro dell'Umbria car #8xx have a license plate?

    Pic comes from Alinari’s archive.
Can’t read the plate but 100% sure a notchback coupe...

Oh boy - if Kare is confused what hope is there for us learners. Please can we address some of the points raised so far.
Post 10, the car with a series 2 body and a series 3 roof. What are the key differences between series 2 and series 3 bodies that can specifically be seen in the photos in post 10?

    In one look :
    - the lateral rear windows which are smaller than a standard fastback coupe.
    - the position of the doors which are closer to the rear wheels arches than a standard fastback coupe.

Wow, thanks. Tricky to spot in most photos.
Next. Kare has a specific number of coupes and berlinettas but I see these terms used indiscriminately. Is there a specific and accepted definition to distinguish one from the other.

In fact, what I’m calling « fastback coupes » could also be called « berlinettas » but I prefer « fastback coupes » by opposition of Le Mans berlinettas.

Yes, I thought Coupe for the road cars (odd numbers) and berlinetta for the race, or race specification cars (even numbers) but this does not seem to be universally adopted.
Last question. Most books and internet authors refer to just three 195 Inter chassis carrying a Touring coupe body. Barchetta has five as follows 0081S, 0083S, 0085S, 0123S and 0215EL. Is there a simple reason?

Agree with Barchetta except 0215EL which must be a 212 Inter...
