And i made it without incident, without a hitch! It stayed cool, didn't melt in the rain, and managed to get 22.6 mpgs.

I took the 355 up to Buffalo NY for memorial day weekend to see the family...and see how it would do on the road. Conclusions:

This is still the best car in the world....ever.
For having such stiff suspension, it is very comfortable over bumps, dips, etc.
The farther north you go, the more people recognize the 355.
Italians must have really long arms, and really short legs...talk about cramps in the knees....
Need to fix the resonance around 2800 in my exhaust... above or below is perfect.
Stay up on your maintenance and drive it like it was meant to be driven!!!!!

It really was a fun trip. The mile long tunnels with the sound of a straight piped 355 going through it is like an eargasm. I even had one family race up from behind just to give me a thumbs up! Not to mention all the pictures, waves, etc. Makes you feel lucky when you realize you just made someone's day by driving your toy. I'm now up around 44500mi...that means i've put about 3000 miles on it in the 2.5 months i've had it. woohoo!

cool. i just did a road trip in mine this weekend too...about 1100 miles total... one section of the trip i "heard" about a guy doing 110 mph in his nero nero 348 spider for 220 miles and i again "heard" he got 26mpg!!! i "heard" he couldn't believe it and checked the math 2 more times... thats what i heard anyway.....

only problem i had was the blown hidden fuse with the a/c

Great to hear someone putting their toy to use! glad you had a great trip and no problems. It's always fun seeing and hearing people's reactions when you pull up or drive by. Usually always better than bad reactions but course you always get some ignorant jealous person. I had not drove my car in a few weeks as a result of nail in my tire, so finally took it out to tour the beaches and I had one redneck scream f*** you as I drove by...

Hearing your 355 in the tunnel must have been awesome! did you happen to get any video? Post pictures anytime you can!

    Enjoy!!

I always worry about being in a Ferrari with out-of-state plates. Seems like a trooper magnet! This is what keeps me sort of close to home.

Maybe I should just go for an out of state trip...

    "Conclusions:

    I'm with ya brother-

Just enough power to still feel "Supercar" yet smaller and lighter than the newer cars for that chukable "Slot car" feel-

Us GTB owners know long stretches of highway are a breeze- the car is composed and not terribly buzzy at highway speeds- Heck- you can even drive em in the rain!!

wtf......a little paranoid are we? Enjoy your car and your trips, that is what you purchased your car for. I doubt there are any troopers loosing sleep over you - let it go.

thanks guys! If you arent driving it, you don't know what you're missing :)

I would never worry about being seen out of state by the 5-0. Oddly enough most police (troopers, sherrifs, locals) i passed didn't seem to even give the car a second glance. The one that did turned on his radar, but got bored after he realized i wasnt speeding.

Pics to follow soon- waiting for my brother to send them! Didnt get any tunnel video this time...partly because we tried before, and the camera made it sound like garbage...however you can hear what it sounds like from another run i made:

The exhaust is a home made creation in my garage.

I love hearing whenever other people take theirs for a drive. Good to hear the 348's are just as enjoyable as the 355's....even cooler to 'hear' about their good gas mileage- haha.

i think you mistook what i meant....i meant have fun with the car .... OP was saying he worries driving it out of state cuzz its a cop magnet....but just driving it, if they pull you over....fight back. If you were doing something wrong pay the price!

i drive the heck out of my car and am not paranoid at all :)

sorry i guess i should have been more clear.

so YOU like cops? i work with quite a few and i like very few!

    sorry for the confusion

just for the record i have had my car since october...parked it in nov...back out 1st of april...i have put 5K miles on it in 3 months so please don't think i DON't enjoy driving it!! it is a daily driver for me....
