    Hi All

we have had our first delivery of the 185VR16 Cinturato CA67 that Ferrari fitted

    https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/tyres/185-16/185vr16-pirelli-cinturato-ca67.html

The Cinturato is a 1952 tyre.

There has been some upset as to what were OE on Ferrari in the 1950s. 1960s are a bit easier. pretty much in 1960 Ferrari changed to 15" Borrani and fitted 185VR15 Cinturato CA67. then in 1964 the move was to 205 section tyres be it 14" or 15" and that was Cinturato CN72. then 70% profile tyres started happening in 1968 etc etc.

However the 1950s is as usual a bit more difficult. yes we know that Ferrari fitted predominently Pirelli and a lot of their road cars left the factory with the Pirelli Stella Bianca that Pirelli re made not that long ago (but are currently out of stock) But at the same time Ferrari could fit radial Cinturato and we know some of the European bound 250 cars came with 400mm Borrani because they were easy radials to get in Europe. B ut at the same time the cars on 16" had the 185VR16 Cinturato as an option.

what else can you fit today?
    • 600-16 Dunlop RS5 no longer made.
    • 600-16 Dunlop RacinG R5 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/vintage-tyres/dunlop-racing.html well yes it is road legal. but it is only period for the very late cars. the R5 tread pattern is a 1958 tyre.
    • 600L16 Dunlop Racing CR48. not road legal and mid 1960s.
    • 6.00H16 Avon Turbospeed. yes good sort of period tyre. but not what Ferrari fitted. but i guess after the Stella it is the only crossply road tyre you would really consider. nothing else crossply would get a look in for me.
    • 185SR16 Michelin X. yes nice and period and light for steady driving, but not a sports car tyre and only S rated.
    • 6.00WR16 Pilot Sport. yes great tyre. looks a bit like the old E|nglebert, but it isn't but it is a good tyre. Is it better thsan the Cinturato? maybe on the track, but i dont think so on the road.
    • 185VR16 Avon mmme! good tyre, but completley the wrong shape and diameter with a completely modern tread. good track day tyre.
    • then there arent any other good radials you would consider either.
Anyway the good news is the Cinturato is back!
