Almost five years and still kicking ass. Of course everyone knows Ferrari is better because they make their own engines and Mclaren just orders them from Ricardo. The video above just shows this…oh wait….

Opened it and saw this was a 12 minute video with a lot of nonsense in the first five minutes. Turned it off and didn’t even see the “race.”

I'll bet that a majority of Ferrari owners couldn't care less about Maclaren being slightly faster. That said, it sounds to me like the F8 pilot was short shifting.

    How is this news?

The 720s is faster in a straight line than the F8 is like saying water is wet.

It was definety no short shifting but at sau 167 möh the power really drops pff due to high gearing. Its very noticable.

The 720S is faster and more capable on a track yet excessively compliant and refined. The F8 is more compelling and engaging to drive. Bought the F8 and had no interest in purchasing the 720S.

The guy in the F8 was quite an….unsophisticated individual.

Has a YouTube channel already lined up a Pista and 765? I don’t recall ever seeing a recorded drag race between those two cars….

No because it’s a forgone conclusion.

The 720 vs F8 was also a forgone conclusion. However, it was still interesting to see and have a clearer impression of the real world performance gap between cars that are in the same segment.

I had a 720S before my F8. They're doing roll races. Advantage 720S. It takes until 3rd gear to start catching up to any car the 720S is racing from a dig. The 720 would have been struggling to catch up let alone win. The Ferrari has better handling. I still get a laugh at how much better the F8 handles while driving the same roads I did all the time in the 720S. Then there's the glorious sound of the F8 Engine compared to the 720S. Never going back and I was the biggest McLaren fan you'd ever meet.

The acceleration difference between a Pista and 765 is a larger gap than the 720 and the F8. The 765 is a lot more rapid than the 720S as you know. I don't think the Pista and F8 are much different.

    Pista Drag Times-

    1/8 Mile- 6.6748 seconds - 110.70 MPH
    1/4 mile - 10.15 seconds - 141.82 MPH

Degree of difference between the F8 and Pista is negligible.

My own personal best on the street with the 765 is as follows:

    0-60 2.57
    0-100 4.78
    0-120 6.31
    0-130 7.23
    0-140 8.26
    0-150 9.55

    1/8 6.4 @ 119.2 mph
    1/4 9.7 @149.6

Dragy traps won't add up with Vbox traps. I've figured out how it's calculated. The 1/8 and 1/4 ET utilizes 1 foot rollout but in doing it reports the trap speed which corresponds to acceleration curve WITHOUT 1 ft rollout factored in.

So 0-130 mph straight up was 7.44 seconds and with rollout was 7.23. The ET is 6.4 (bc draggy subtracts 1 ft rollout) but the trap of 119.2 mph corresponds to 0-120 mph in 6.52 seconds (no rollout).

Far too detailed of a response but......
