I would pay someone to find me a period photo of the trophy awarded to the Maserati 6CM that won the TF in 1937. It's a large silver plate that measures about 24" in diameter.

-XXVIII Targa Florio 1937 Circuito Parco della Favorita, Palermo Voiturette.
The 1937 Targa Florio trophy, a large bronze plate with an embossed car
followed by several horses. This race was won by Giulio Severi in a Maserati
6CM. The Targa Florio has a very special place in Maserati's history for it was
in this race that the motor racing world first witnessed a car, adorned by the
now famous trident, racing under the Maserati name.

Sorry, no photos of that one. For some reason I have always found it much more difficult to find TF stuff than MM stuff. Just try and find copies of Rapiditas for example! I was offered a complete set in mint condition about 30 years ago, but the price was higher than two new Ferraris!

I'll keep looking for the photos of the 1948 MM trophy..

Agree! The Targa Florio of the prewar- and postwar-area (until the 60ies) was more or less an Italian affair as travelling to the deep south of Italy was too expensive for magazins from other countries. So try to find Italian archives. But- very hard to find any stuff from that race.

    Ciao!
