Great car! I can't understand why they don't sell for higher prices. A proper even number competition Ferrari from the early days for only $880K!

Not matching engine #, what ever the "issues" that need attention and minor racing record contributed to this price. But yes well bought. just one man's opinion tongascrew

Interesting, the Anamera's link says :

"On February 26, 1952, Ferrari S.p.A. sold the new 225 S chassis to its first owner, Giuseppe Santi, a resident of Rome. While little is known about Sig. Santi, it is believed he may have been a dealer or possibly a sponsor who financed the car for Pietro Palmieri..."

In this thread, we came to the conclusion that Palmieri Vignale's spyder 225 S couldn't be 0154ED but another unkown 225 S :

In this other thread, the great "Tom Roland" said :

"May I now suggest the following:
    - Get the engine 0168 with 0308 (0050) and recreate 0168 with its original engine and bodywork, which was a Vignale spider..."

I have always thought it was almost impossible that there was no history of 0168ED during the 1952 year as "0168ED" is clearly in the early 1952 sequence.

I'm tempted to say that 0168ED was born with a Vignale spyder body, raced by Pietro Palmieri in first half of 1952 and rebodied into Vignale coupe in late 1952.

    Any comment ??

Giuseppe "Peppino" Santi was the official Maserati dealer in Rome from the late 40s on until 1952 or 53. Then "Mimmo" Dei took over and established his dealership "Scuderia Centro Sud".
