Does anyone know the full story on the #16 car from 1956 French GP? Did de Portago race the #16 Streamliner during the race or did he just practice with it? Because I also see pics with him racing a short nose D50.

I also know that this was practiced with a "T" on it by Castelloti.

    I'm confused.

The streamliner nose was tried in practice but was not raced.

Reims had two very long straights of well over 2km each, so top end speed was crucial. The blue car in the background is the Bugatti Type 251 aero car.

Thanks, I was wondering about the car in the background. Was never into Bugattis for some reason...just Ferraris :)

Does anyone have a pic of the back of this #16 car?

    Thanks

The Type 251 was a dud. I'm not sure it ever raced again.
