I love the rear fender/taillight line.....the chrono and compass! on the center console....... the duplex rear window wipers!.... That was/is some really special car (and ordered new by a 20 year old guy?!!!!!! warning: age-ism showing I don't see a 20 year old guy today ordering options like those....... I do wish the color had not been changed to black during the restoration - keeping the original burgundy might have accented the lines even better? MHO..... Calling Wayne A: what do you think of this one? James
how about price? 410 superamerica prices seem all over the place for the last 5 years, as low as a few hundred thousand, as high as like 750.
Pretty car, but some of the details are a bit to "busy" looking for my taste. I prefer a more simple, cleaner look. I would prefer a 250 Zagato
Beautiful and elegant car. Anyone know whatever became of Richard Wolfe? Is he still alive and driving Mercedes or Ferraris? He would be 67 years old if he was 20 in 1957. John
I am wondering if Richard Wolfe is related to Baird Wolfe (Pretty well know restoration guy for Ferrari (and I think Porsche as well). Wayne - any info on a connection here... PS. Baird restored the engine on the 250GTE (2895) that I had - and now Darren Jaffery has in the UK.
The series 2 410SAs had a variety of unique tailight configurations. See the attached (i hope it comes through!). It's the tail of s/n 0717 the ex-Princess Soyra car that I had the great honor of restoring in 2002. Every Ferrari is special but the 410s will always be my favorites. Each has a unique story, each has special features. Uncovering the tales and documenting the designers art was one of the the most interesting and challenging adventures in my life. They are beautiful indeed but they are also thrilling cars to drive. The performance is astounding and sum total of the driving experience (sights, sounds, feel) is as unique as the cars themselves. Owners of these cars are truly blessed.
A beautiful and very unusual Ferrari, and not as "flashy" as some of the 410s. Is it light metalic green or gold? Hard to tell from the pictures...
I hope the new owner of 0713SA enjoys the Englebert tires while they last - they stopped making them 4 years ago . . .
I see copper brake lines on the left front suspension photo ... scary!!! If I bought that stunning car, that would have to be changed straight away ... as I'd want to atleast take it for some cruises Pete
The SA's posted here so far are okay, but this is the one I'd take. My favorite of all SA's john Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is 0493SA, Kaiser Bao Dai's car, an Indochinese prince. It is now with Tom Shaughnessy. I love this car because it is a real time capsule. True, the engine is entombed forever in the old Schlumph museum, inside Bao Dai's 375MM, 0450AM, but that doesn't matter. The car is most delightful. It has an interior to die for, and that color scheme is iconic. I would take this SA, just as it is, over any other SA. I hope the car will stay unrestored forever. The actual color name is Grigio Metalizzo. It's sort of a silver/gray/green. It's the original color of the car. The paint was done by Steve Beckman of Beckman's metal works in Costa Mesa. He matched the paint from some flakes we found on the car. Here's the way it looked when we got it and in bare metal.
I believe Tom's installed a 410 motor in the car now. It is indeed a time capsule, we used it as a template for some of the details on our car. Chris Laportes 410 s/n 0715 is also a wonderful unrestored example.
