Marcel.... I mean no disrespect, but.....it did have that cold air box/carb tray at various times when previously owned by the collector - customer of mine who commissioned me to build for him. However.....I have seen at various events - different times over the years during his ownership where the box was taken off - not there. Also during the time he owned this car, there were often assorted other detail changes including it sporting 3 different types/styles of exhaust tips, etc.

I don't know whether this car was originally built with said air box, but it was definitely on (and off) the car for a number of years, and it was on when I gathered my initial reference on it. Then in a later 2011 feature in Cavallino the cold air box was gone (your photos - I did see them), but a different one reappeared on it for the RM auction. This, along with other changes drove me crazy as I always had to check to make sure that he did not want various things changed before I completed my work including my asking if I was to build it with or without the cold air box. You can see what his answer was.

Shown here are a couple of my photos of 1905GT taken at one of his homes in 2006. Next to it in the garage is one of his Aston Martin's.

1905 GT was born without cold air box.
During the time when Peter Read had it (June 2004 to November 2012), numerous details were changed.

Very nice Marshall....Great build. I still have one of your early 1/12th SWB shells and a early set of Dunlop wheels you sold me. Someone finally did a very good resin/diecast road XKE in 1/12th scale, the reason I bought the wheels. A 1/12th Cunningham XKE coupe will be at Ferrari Expo next March partly thanks to you.

Thanks Tom. That 1:12th Jaguar E-Type from GT Spirit will make a great basis for one of your builds, which I really hope you'll show photos of when it's done.

Thanks for the info Marcel. I had a feeling from what you wrote that 1905GT probably did not originally have that cold air box. Yes, as I mentioned, all the many detail changes when P.R. owned it were a challenge to deal with when trying to represent the car at one very brief period in time.

This is one of the 72 comp cars built by the factory - alloy body and uprated engine, but no racing history.
