Hi All--Sorry for this long post. Am looking for reference and/or photos of "typical factory built" for a few items. This is for the Sebring coupe. 1. On my car, there are two sets of metal tangs at the very top of the steering column before the firewall that appear to cradle the steering column. From other cars I own in that era, I believe that this may be horn contacts. My horns do not work, but I noticed these open & bent contacts and cannot think of any other use. Can anyone confirm what these contacts are needed for and post or email photos of how those contacts are to be installed correctly? Is there a cover of some kind over them? Also, where might I find replacement parts for such an item? 2. In the trunk area, there is a clear plastic tube that runs from the driver's side gas tank, across the top of the trunk, to a connection with a curled brass pipe that then appears to run, via another clear plastic tube, to a connection at the vent hole beside the gas fill. This clear plastic pipe is cut short and disconnected and there is a distinct gas smell in the trunk. The Lucas fuel pump is not leaking and I cannot detect any fuel/moisture in the trunk. Is this a vent of some kind and can anyone think of why it would have been disconnected? 3. On the outside of the car at the rear panel behind the bumper on the passenger side corner and beneath the trunk lid on the outside of the weather stripping, there is a small hole in the panel. At first I thought it was a drain hole, but it appears to drain into the panel behind the bumper and with consistent water, will cause rust. Does anyone know what this might be? Perhaps there is a part missing? Again photos on how this would have typically been assembled would be helpful. 4. On the driver's side, near the firewall, there is a plastic tube connected to a slotted cap. It is tucked behind a black metal bracket that has slots on each end...can someone tell me what this is for? I noticed that I do not have any washer nozzles on the car. Where would these have been located if installed? 5. Is there a go-to shop to repair dash gauges? The clock? 6. This is likely a dumb question, but is there an assembly manual available for the 63 Sebring with FI? All for now...Thanks all for whatever feedback you might provide.
1. Yes those are slip rings for the horn buttons(see photo). There are two, one for the center button and one for the outer. The center operates the horn relay and the outer flashes the high beams. The brass fingers must contact the brass straps on the steering column to operate properly. 2. The clear lines in the trunk are for fuel vapors which should exit at the filler door. If you have an opening in the line you'll get fuel odors in the cabin. Either reconnect the cut line with an inline connector or replace it. 3. There is a hole in the rear panel for the wire that goes to the bumper mounted license plate lights. I'm unaware of a hole on the passenger side. Post a photo. 4. The windshied washer nozzle is located in the center of the hood about 12" from the rear edge. It has two orifices in it. Many Sebrings do not have it. 5. Nisongers in NY restores the gauges. There are many other companies that do it. I've had a bad experience with Palo Alto Speedometer. 6. No assembly manual for the Sebring or most of the other GT cars. What is the VIN of your Sebring? Can you post some photos? Image Unavailable, Please Login
