Hello Everyone: I am new to Maserati and to the forum. In fact, it is my first italian car. Being of italian decent, it certainly is about time! I had some very rudimentary questions on the overall maintenance of the car. On many older cars, zinc content in the oil is an important consideration. While I think it true, I wanted to ask if there some evidence that this same "rule" is true on older Maserati engines? Can any one point me to any literature on this subject? Alternatively, is there any thought that added zinc in these cars would cause damage? For parts, are there generally 2 main suppliers to use? I am accustomed to some choice and also a somewhat extensive inventory with other classic cars. Perhaps I am unfamiliar, but the sites I visited for these main suppliers appear to have very few parts listed. Is a call necessary? Same is true for tires. The car currently has a very old set of Pirelli Cinturato tires 185/16's mounted...I am in the USA, and find only Lucas Tire and one other dealer who will supply them...Beyond a shift to a Vredestein tire, which I think is a great tire, is this the extent of the choice for the Pirellis? (Probably a dumb question) Lastly, can anyone point me to a supplier of the several filters used for fuel and air in the Lucas fuel injection system? Is Kinsler the go-to place? Any other suppliers? I learned of a fellow in Europe as well, but he appears to offer rebuild services and not necessarily routine maintenance items. Thanks so much for the feedback. Happy Holidays.
I am also new to the Italian car@ 1962 GTI sold in 63 There is allot to learn about these cars. Can you post any pictures please of the exterior and interior of your car. Thanks Olivier
