I'm not sure if any of you all are interested, but I just dropped off my father's 275 GTB/4 at Lake Forest Sports Cars. It's been sitting for quite awhile (20 years!) w/o being turned over... needs some attention (to say the least) but it's still a sight to see. LFSC is supposed to wash it today or tomorrow, and it's got velocity stacks installed on the Webers... sure is beautiful :)

I'll post some pictures I snapped today as well.

It's in good shape, all things considered (well, at least it was able to roll :) and is slated for a long-term project, so it'll be sitting for awhile.

But you might just see it on the track in 2005 in some historic races, so keep an eye out :)

    Welcome to FChat Sean!

What a beautiful car, please keep us posted about the progress of your baby. Looks beautiful.

In case there is a waiting list: I'd like to put my name on it for a ride.
    :)

Sure will keep you all updated, if you want to hear about it...

Lee at LFSC has promised to take lots of shots of it to document the job - hopefully I'll get a shot of it after it's been washed :) That inch of dust doesn't do it justice...

Believe you me, after it's back in running order it's going to get driven a bit more than once in 20 years... not going through this all again :)

    As to the car's story/history... I don't know everything, but here's a bit.

Father started with a Lambo Miura S. Traded that (flat, if I remember) for a 330 GTC/2 (1967 I think).
My uncle (father's brother) got the car some time in the 70's (possibly from Joe Marchetti) and put a few miles on it at some regional tracks.
They ended up swapping cars around '78. The 275 sat in the garage in Winetka for about 6 years until it went into storage in 1985... where it pretty much stayed.

It's got arounk 26k miles on it. Was never whacked, though the original color may have been grey (if so, it may be going back to that). Engine's original, as is the interior. It's pretty much set up for racing as it is now - the velocity stacks and there are at least 3 fire extinguishers in the car.

So there's the story; if you were around the north side of the city or the northern suburbs in the 70's or early '80's you might just have seen it before. Short of that it's only company has been boxes (and, more recently, my Rockola jukebox).

I hope to see that car in my rear view mirror on one of our drives next year. Or ahead of me, doesn't matter. As long as I hear her roaring!

LOL. So did I. The poor guy gets spammed by FOC...

Well, we really, really are happy when a mighty 12 cylinder joins our ranks. Only once did we have the honor of a TR amongst us this year.

    Sean,

What a neat story with your Dad's 275. I hope everything goes by well as it has the promise to be one of the most gorgeous cars ever discussed about here on Fchat. Tell Lee that the Candyman said hello. The whole service team at LFSC is filled with great and friendly people who treat you as well as they do the cars and the pride in their work. As mentioned, welcome to the Chi-town section of Fchat.

    Bo,

Congrats on that TR. It is such an interesting color combo and I am sure a lot of the people who were curious about that car ( here on Fchat, ) will give you all the praise and questions you can handle. It is a lovely choice and I hope you turn all the heads you like and crack enough satisfactory smiles for your own pride. Nice choice, have fun.

    Thanks Rocket Boy...

I actually like the aggressive interior...

I have a owned a black caddy with lipstick red interior - affectionately called the "pimp-mobile" by my classmates...

    Was looking at a black/red 930 too...

The interior looks great - I don't think I would want an all red interior, but a black dash/console, with red seat/carpeting looks cool. When you drive it - you are looking mostly at black leather...

Not everyone's cup of tea - I'm twisted, I know. I really considered ticket-me-yellow and arrest-me-red, but decided on ignore-me-white, so I can keep my liscense a little longer.

    Bo -
can't wait to see the TR....
as far as the color combo... If all Ferraris were red/tan (like mine), it just would not be that exciting to get together with other Ferrari guys/gals!
Kind of like women, some look good tall, some thin, some with more athletic, some with big personalities... well, you get the idea.
Just enjoy more of the proverbial spice of life!

.... and Sean, as stated in many - a- threads, the 275 is in GREAT hands!
they (LFSC) treat me with my used, low end Ferrari with all the attention and respect that I would imagine they treat their new-car buyers.
