Just reviewing the Gooding Amelia catalog - and this caught my eye. No description of the features or history at Gooding, so I checked Barchetta.cc where I found only one entry for it in 1970.

Looks like our friend Peter Kumar got his hands on this one late last year, but has now decided to auction it. From the pictures, it looks to be selling "as-is", complete with a few small dents - mostly in the rear, oxidized wheels and grille and variable pitting in the chrome. Other than scruffy seats, there is a well presented interior and an amazingly tidy engine bay. What really strikes me as I look at the pictures is that there is virtually no rust! No body corrosion and tidy looking fasteners and small items under the hood. Probably has been off the road for 45 years.

In any event, it seems to represent a unique time capsule/survivor that has some interesting stories to tell...

Thank you Marcel. Do know of the time the car was in Oregon?

    Oregon? Not.
    1974 to 2024 California.
Prior to that 3 owners in Italy from new till 4 June 1969.

I only mention it due to the set of 1979 Oregon plates included in the Gooding picture gallery

I ride vintage motorcycles in Oregon. Oregon used to have the reputation of: if you drove it to the DMV, they'd give you a title and plates (which you had to pay for... although very little when compared to other states). The free version was running expired Washington plates...you just can't go to Washington.

The rash of stolen vehicles has eliminated both.

The Oregon plates could have been an old work around to drive in CA.

I watched the Gooding Amelia auction online today. This car went RNM at a top bid of $1.45M. Gooding now has an after auction ask of $1.6M.

Can't say for sure, but it looks like this went over the block under it's own power, thus it may have be recommissioned enough to make it roadworthy - which is of value. This may be the most original 330GTS extant, but I'm not sure what that's actually worth..

Did you see the result on the Gooding site...or do you know who bought it?

That is still pretty much true for Oregon. In fact, you don't even have to drive it to the DMV (or bring it to the state) if you can get a law enforcement officer or local DMV person wherever the car is to sign off on the VIN inspection.
