There's been a lot of talk about the 246 prices lately but, does anyone have recent values for 206 Dinos? Bill
no but there has not been a 206 for sale in a long time now...either FIAT or Ferrari its been many months. I am hoping both 206's have ridden the 246's coattails even though my Dino is not for sale.
A basket case 206 went for over $60k out of England a month or so ago....maybe less than 75 206's still exist...all alloy bodies.....with a cost of more than $100k to restore $150 for a nice one would be a bargain....mine is not for sale either.....it's just too much fun...... I agree with Greg on values but not about the number of cars remaining. There were 150 206GTs built and I would be very surprised if only half survived. I think they wound up in collections (many are in Japan) and are closely held because they are so rare and desireable. I think a really good 206GT would be priced more in line with a really good 246 GTS. Finding some parts for these cars is more difficult given the production numbers. As with all Dinos, buy the best you can find. ...Keith
I know that 206's are very light and the motor is unrestricted.... What is the performance of a 206 like?
BHP is 185.........my 206 feels very quick and nimble compared to a 246....the 246 weighs about 500 lbs. more .....the best way I can describe the difference is that the 246 feels heavier and more cumbersome to drive....my 206 really moves out with the 5 speed.........gregg
Gregg, did you find your 206 in Hawaii? ...or did you ship it in? Do you see a lot of Ferrari's over there? I know the most famous 308 was from Hawaii but.... Just curious.
Beg to differ on driving impressions. 206GT requires higher revs to get maximum performance so if feels a bit more racy. 246GT has a bit more torque and so it pulls a bit better with less effort and noise. Neither cars are glued-to-your-seat fast but both are nimble, agile and a pleasure to drive. FYI, the weight difference is just under 400lbs for 206GT to 246GT and less between a 206GT and an "L" series 246GT. FYI, there is an "L" series Dino for sale in the US at: www.rpmvt.com/ForSaleAll.html and a 206 GT for sale at: http://www.premiumwanadoo.com/rbox/vo_ferrari/fer_dino_206.htm Time to buy one!
I had the opportunity to test drive a 2.4 and 2.0 (spyder) and I would agree. 246 seemed to have more torque and the 206 was very "light" and responsive at higher rpms. I ended up getting the 2L because of issues with the 2.4s condition. I take my 2L down to Malibu (PCH) every weekend during the summer and then head back home via Sunset. I love driving it at 7k rpm and it hugs the road even with live axle rear suspension.
I agree with all the above. The one thing that really stands out for the 206 is the four pipe muffler. Whereas the 246 has a bit of a Porsche blat, the 206 howls. After passing cars on rallys at 7k+ I have had the drivers, at the next stop, thank me. They said the sound was phenomenal! From the inside the cacaphony of cams, gears, and engine is equally sensational. That's just my opinion, of course. Mike
Speaking of the Heritage Certificate, can anyone tell me where the transmission number is found on the 206. I got the engine number with a mirror and did not have to remove the right rear wheel. Where to look so I have to only jack it once. BTW, as regards to my previous note re mufflers, I meant the small diameter four pipe muffler. Mike
Aloha Mke,,,,it should tell you on the ferrari owners site,,,,I just jacked mine up and it was on the transaxle unit,,,had to get under it and look up,,,not a stamped number but a cast one.....if you can't find it let me know and I'll go find it again,,,,how about a foto of your 206 and the serial #.......I had to send photos to get my Heritage Certificate... found out my red car left the factory painted silver.........gregg blue Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Greg, the owner's site just shows the location of the engine serial number which I managed to get. It does not show the location of the transmission number. I will jack up the car and take a look. Mike ps, will take a couple of pics also.
Mike....would love to see some fotos....wonder what color your car left the factory with...............I was really suprised to learn mine was silver...... Gregg
Found a stamped number on the case N-33. Hope this is the numbers as it was close to the rear motor mount. Will get the pics out as soon as I can figure the process out. SN# is 00160 Mike
Greg. looks like my Dino was originally a Rosso Dino, it is presently bright yellow, about a 'fly yellow'. I'll get the pics up tonight. Mike

Now we are up to date. Given that the pics are there the reason for the odd angle on the rear is that I just lowered the car from the jack and the rear tire is still angled in, elevating the butt end. As per the info from the archive the car was crunched from the left front and underwent a pretty good repair job. I have had it up to about 130 at the Portland International Raceway and it handles very nicely. No suspension probs, etc. Re the transmission number, is that were you found yours and are the numbers consistent? Aloha Mike....sure does look good in yellow........that's the #....in the end I sent in the fotos of the #'s for my heritage cert..........it's easy that way.....let me know what happens.........Gregg
Hey guys, I'm know this it starting off on the wrong foot, but my boss is interested in selling his 69 206GT. Would anyone know what the current value of the 69 206GT's? The body was restored by Kent Performance in the UK and the clutch is being changed, carbs rebuilt and other works. We were also looking get the Classiche Certification for the car prior to the sale. Thanks for your help. John
Hello.... To Be honest I am not sure the real value of a 206 these days. I would be interested in talking to you about selling it to me outright or as part of a trade. What do you think.
