hit the report button and ask for it to be moved. They'll also need to edit out the "FOR SALE" content as it's not allowed in general forums here, only in the classifieds. Or maybe just have a mod add a sentence inserted at the beginning of the 1st post. "OP CHANGED HIS MIND - NOT FOR SALE, THREAD MOVED TO CHRONICLE THE PROJECT" or something like that. Title works fine. D
so just a few details about where the car is it's been a journey I bought it sight unseen out of Illinois shipped it to Southern Cal and it sat in the alley behind my shop for a few months I decided to sell it - posted it here and on e-bay and had a fair amount of interest and if someone had paid me 20 I probably would have sold it but I asked an old friend who is a Shelby and corvette guy in upstate NY (were I am from and we own a house there) - I asked him if he knew of a guy - some magical guy in my head - who would be a one man band - who could restore the car all by himself - mechanical - welding - body/paint - and preferably at his home my friend said "I have that exact guy" - he ended up living 2 miles from my house in NY I spoke with him on the phone a few times and I shipped the car to him this summer - I then met him at the very end of the summer when I went back to NY lovely guy - and incredibly knowledgeable - he actually has a 70 Chevelle hard top in his stable that he has owned for 30 years so we have stayed in touch through his process - he updates me with pics and we discuss the pieces he is ordering and we have decided that my shop in Socal is gonna do the LS3 install here - so when he finishes the paint he will ship the car back to name and I will do the motor/trans and interior here with my people so stand by for pics and updates

+1 -- I'm going thru the same process now with a restomod, and the Shop has told me: "Basically a roof, firewall and VIN apron will be all that's left of the original car". I'll also say that the OP's original asking price wasn't out of line as these old cars are disappearing -- I paid $27K for a non-running, mostly-there, base 289 1967 Mustang Fastback.
thanks for the interest guys - I am gonna post some hot off the presses shots as my man has done a lot of paint work ... I am painting my own rainbow here I love white lemans stripes - and a white top and of course a white interior I will see this car in person in a week - my guess is that I ship it back to cali sometime in February I could be driving this thing in the spring ... I really almost sold it -

sorry for double posting those pics - and editing was confusing so I will leave it and the chassis above the Chevelle us actually my 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe the Vet is very close to being fully assembled - restoring that car to NCRS judging standards as best I can - the goal is a regional top flight award I mention that so that y'all don't believe me to just be a mercenary customizer - I do really believe in faithful restorations I will post the 63 vet inn this thread when it's coming together cheers I might go drive my Dino now just to stay in good standing with the F Chat gang
BUMP .... and a gluten for punishment with the amount of chrome and trim on that beautiful beast. https://www.barrett-jackson.com/scottsdale-2022/docket/vehicle/1956-cadillac-series-62-custom-convertible-251163 Image Unavailable, Please Login .
BJK - truer words my friend I have a guy who polishes and straightens and fixes all the bright work on my builds I surely have put all of his kids through med school at this point
so here's what had happened... I got back focused on my 63 vet split window restoration to NCRS standard But at the same time - the 59 Vet was giving me hell - that car (and I am truly glad it's gone) gave me fits - I just had back luck - nothing went right - the guys who built the chassis - (we usually build our own...) they took forever plus forever I ultimately lost my **** on them and they wrote me check for 2k as an apology but it just dragged on then a very big collector who had a shop near mine tragically died - and my partner / builder who was employed by him was suddenly really busy trying to help the estate of this man and it put my world on hold all to say - I am now gonna try to get serious about the Chevelle and finish it has the block in it - and most of the trim I have the seats and all of the interior pieces but I can't lie - I am a few months away - maybe sooner if I focus up let me get some current pics of the Chevelle and maybe the 63 split too do I have another project too ? I can't remember - I may go to my shop tomorrow this thread is helping me get focused I have mostly been nursing my bruised ego after the bloodbath in Arizona
