Sold 1971 BMW 2800CSA project - $15,000

Time to sell the other project. 1971 BMW 2800CSA, Baikal Blue, Tan interior, 6th from the last 2800CSA built with its original engine and even the original typical blown head gasket! AM/FM, AC, full power windows. Usually these things just rot out all over. This one is fairly solid where it count: inner fenders and strut mounts, rockers, rear strut mounts and subframe mounts. The front panel between the radiator and header panel has rot which lead to the front nose and lower valance having rot. These will need to be replaced and are made aftermarket. The trunk drip trough has rust which has lead to a very small hole in the spare tire well. The wiper motor area has a hole below it. But again, the real bad problem areas; front strut towers, rear strut towers, rockers, subframe mounts, door jambs, are all good. Doors shut like a new car and all glass is in great shape. Windshield isn’t original, but the rest has correct markings of original make.

The car was owned by a Doctor in Azle, TX. He parked it in 1986 after the head gasket blew. Plates from 1986 are still on it! Sat inside, then outside, then inside again until last year when a guy bought it. The original owner moved and lost the title, so a bonded title was issued which is how he bought it and then I bought it from him a year later. Still a clear, blue Texas title with no issues. Owner I got it from decided it was too much of a project for him. I realized after looking it over, shutting the doors, and attractiveness of the car I could easily handle it. I was already thinking drivetrain swap anyway. A good start to a custom CSL build or what ever floats your boat.

Yeah, these are beautiful cars. I was planning a modern swap with a 5spd then just drive it all ratted out. But then something CSL looking would be awesome too. It’s a blank slate! Terrifying? Nonsense! Think about the Pilgrims, Western settlers, The moon landing, and your first date! Now those were terrifying things!!!!
