Isn't that the one that stood as the fastest F1 race ever until the late 90s?

No, the race you where thinking of had Three Ferrari's, as Nikki Lauda was injured at the 'ring, as Ferrari didn't expect him back, they hired a replacement, Nikki pulled through, and demanded a race car according to his contract. I can't remember if it was the 312 T2 or T3.

Yes, until Monza 2003 :). Schumacher won that race at an average speed of 153.xxxmph and I think the '71 race was won at a speed of 151.75mph.

Remember it like it was yesterday-used to read Rob Walker's GP reports in R&T magazine. It was Monza '76 and the Scuderia ran 3 312T2s for Lauda, Regazzoni and new hire Reutemann.

I remember this race because it was Niki's first race back; Clay finished ahead of Niki and if Clay had let Niki by maybe Niki would have won the WDC.

    I miss those days.....

I don't get your point. The '71 Monza race was the fastest for, like 30 years. I think that Peter Gethin won in a BRM (not sure about that).

Niki was injured at the 'Ring in '76. I remember picking up the LA Times (no TV coverage in those days) and reeling from the news. I don't see what that has to do with '71...

What it has to do with is the discussion of 'Monza 71 being the fastest F1 race', and somebody else said 'no, it's not, the one in 76 was'...

IIRC Monza 71 was the one where the top 4 cars - the difference from 1st to 4th was like 2 seconds...

I miss those days also, let me tell ya.
