I would imagine a rhd car in the US would not command a high price. But, probably worth considerably more in the UK or Australia.

I just recently sold a right-hand-drive Dino that my dad bought new in 1974 and imported to the US in 1978. Believe me, your car is not worth more here being RHD; it is worth less. I ended up selling my car to a buyer in the UK.

 

Hate to see a Dino leave the US, but it seems to have gone to a very loving home, Dan.

 

RHD Dinos are much rarer than LHD and if you read Classic and Sports Car you will see that RHD cars sell for a significant premium there for obvious reasons.
If I were selling one I might not even advertise it here-- just in the UK and RHD countries.

 

As an aside, in Japan, and our Japanese colleagues please correct me, there was some prestige to having a LHD car in that RHD country. I think it had something to do with having an obviously imported car.

Having the steering wheel on the wrong side is now prohibited in many countries, including Australia I think. That would boost the price of RHD cars.

A law prohibits their importation here or their being driven on public roads; the local sports car club was able to get an exception for RHD cars built before 1960. I was lobbying for 1968, just in case I won the lottery and could afford a Mk I GT40.

 

Indeed, you are (were) right to say so. However, things have changed and there are more people desiring RHD imports. Personally, it may sound strange to most of you, but I do find driving a LHD in a RHD country to be very comfortable. w/ smiles Jimmy
