I ran across this on CL. Looks pretty rough and would be a labor of love to restore or a good parts car. Title says $1700, but also says $2800 in the ad description. Not sure which is the "real" price. I have no affiliation.

For sale is a 1973 Citroen SM with 5 speed transmission and the 3.0L Maserati engine. 58000 miles the most wanted version!

Will sell over 40k if well restored. This car is complete and has a good very restorable body! panels are very strait with few spot of surface rust, pans are rusted through but look like an easy fix as it is flat sheet metal with no complex shapes. The car comes complete with all windows and chromes in good shape. The windshield has a crack. Interior got old and crusty but the dash spedometer and center console are in very good shape. The seat and carpet will need restored pieces.
V6 3.0L Maserati engine and 5speed transmission is all there! Did not try to start it as oil has to be replaced after sitting so long ... so I'm not sure what the problem was when this car was parked on the property 30 years ago but it is all there!!

All wheels have a nice chromed wheel cover, I have all the original mirrors and and spare wheel factory hardware.

$2800 call or text at 615-xxx-xxxx

If you look up the word "junk" in the dictionary, this car is what comes up as a definition :)

    Waste of metal.

Probably THE car of the 1970s.... Pity it is a US spec version. No, it's not a financially sound resto project, but, it's a wonderful car nonetheless.

These are beautiful, quirky cars. But even for free there is no way to restore it and make a profit. It's one of those things that might be right for the right guy doing it for himself -- NOT for resale.

Shame to see it go as scrap metal. Especially considering:
