I think I took these two photos on the docks either at Calais or Dover in January-February, 1973, while on a study abroad college program. I suspect it was at Calais based on the other vehicles in the picture.

Notice no radio antennas (and no Ferrari emblems!).I have found a box of slides from 1971-72 with many Ferrari photos from those years I will post on the appropriate forum for the model.

I would estimate that these pictures have been taken earlier, in 1971/72.
The M- Series was the first Series which was available in RHD and it is reported that due
to the long time waiting customers in the UK market Enzo had produced a lot of the 507 M- Series 246 in RHD.
The Dino 246 on the pictures have all the M- Series details as crossing wippers, reverse light on the bottom and steering wheel with no holes. No back mirror from factory and no HEADLIGHT Covers, which proofes that both were installed at the importeur Maranello Concessionaires.

Looks to me like there are holes in the steering wheel.

Thanks for the insights on the cars.
The first time I ever traveled to Europe was January, 1973, so I couldn't have taken them before that time... but......

"Dino Club Germany"'s comments caused my to probe deeply into my memory, and I now recall that my SISTER took these slides on a car trip around Europe in 1971 or 1972. I just called her and she said she remembers taking them for her brothers to see. I obviously was smitten with the Dinos in the photo. She is checking her diaries to see precisely when she was there. I'll post the results of that search.

So I have no idea regarding the port where these were taken. Perhaps the diary will tell us.

I apologize for the incorrect information. Thanks to Dino Club Germany for pointing out my senility in such a gentle way!

No problem and I really appreciated the rare pictures.
It happens not very often to see photos of new Dinos before delivery.

@hawkeye: You are right, it was a typing error.

Dinos Vs. other cars on dock: what a contrast...
I remember a friend telling me in the 80's that if he would drive his Dino, people looked at him with hatred in their eyes.
    I can see why.
He was not the flaunting type either, just a real nice easygoing fellow, but...with a Dino.

    Regards, Alberto

Makes sense, both birthday girls (or boys) have been registered in England, and based on the dinoregister are still there. Below is #001954 (somebody apparently had no sense for Verde Germoglio).

Matthias, How were you able to know the serial numbers just by looking at a couple of old pics? Am I missing something, or do you have some type of 6th sense? :)

I believe you might have something there, David!
What do you think, Jim? Can you see a bit more at the edge of the original pic, or do you recall if these two might have been in-trail behind a third Dino?
How about that possibility, Matthias? And...if so, can you pull another S/N out of your hat?
    Cheers,
    Coop

My love of the Dino was spurred on by a new brown one I used to see parked at the back of Hulburds Department Store in Sittingbourne Kent. I remember seeing it there day after day in the mid 70's. If it was owned by the company it was probably registered to one of the Boucher family (my Dad coached one of their sons and still remembers a hair raising lift home in the family E type when his car wouldn't start!).

I wonder if that Dino still lives?
