Nice car, if you let me know the chassis number I can tell you what production sequence your BB is.

Per Hilary Raab's book, your car would be the #3 Boxer. Customer was "Dameran" in Belgium.

FYI, #2 was 17223 and the prototype was 17185.

There's probably some interesting history associated with your car!

Thanks for the info. I knew this car was one of the early production cars but not a number 3 car, that is great. Clint Eastwood owned this fine car at one time. Now I think I need to hold on to this car. I can't imagine what this car will be worth in the near future. Maybe I am crazy but somewhere over the $125,000 because of its production number and being in great condition. This car can be driven everyday in its condition right now.

I would contact Gerald Roush at Ferrari Market Letter and see what he can tell you about it.

Given that it is so early, it would not surprise me at all if it had auto show history at some point.

If it's in great shape, I would certainly think it would be worth over $100k now, probably getting close to $125k.

I think you will be kicking yourself for selling this car in the future and it appears that you all ready know that. Smart move.
Enquiring minds do want to know about the front spoiler. Do you have any details on it?

I think the rear valance has been modified as well.
This car has the opening on the valance between the red fog lights like the 512.
The 365 should have a solid lower valance with no opening between white back up lenses.

    Hi Chuck,

Thanks for that, I belive yours is the 6th. Boxer made, not the 3rd as Raab suggests. The 365BB's I have before yours are:

    #17071
    #17185
    #17203
    #17223
    #17257

I think the engine number might give us a clue as well, any chance you can have a look? Can you see if there is any evidence of a roof mounted antenna being on your car? I understand the first seven cars had a roof mounted antenna as well as cloth seats and door trims as per the pics in the 365BB Brochure print #83/73.

    Regards,

    Carl.

Car seats also seem to have been modified. Early to mid models (mine is 17915) had no headrests. Also rear lid has extra vents(between carb air intakes).I thought this was a feature of later models(mine has none).

I actually thought my car was the # 7 car. The motor I think starts with 00007....... I am not close to the car right now or I would go look at the #. The door trims are cloth but seats are leather with head rest and no roof mounted antenna. Maybe that is why the original radio sounds like the aliens are trying to contact me. Someone else has suggested the rear was modified between the rear backup lamps, I don't believe that to be true, it looks factory. And it serves a great purpose for that hot muffler! The pic of the 365 on the last thread has more vents on the rear lid, it looks more like a 512.

While all those modifications may make the car better looking, more drivable and more fun , whether you like it or not, the demand for originality in the Ferrari market results in a decrease in value as a result...

As of this morning I have had now 3 offers over a $100,000 and I am still confused on what to do. Unless you are making me an offer your opinion on what the value is or should be dosen't really matter. What would exact factory condition be worth compared to some small modifications? I am not trying to sell a total original car, but one with some good modifications or upgrades. The car is worth what somebody is willing to pay. It is what it is.....one of the first Boxers ever produced with some great history, and a car you could drive everyday if someone wanted to.

I still believe this car should be worth more just because it is one of the first Boxers ever produced. And I hope to find out before I ever sell it what the correct value should be today and over the next.... let's say 5 years or more.

As I am a Boxer owner too, I hope you get as much as possible for your car. I was just stating what I have seen in the past about how modifications tend to decrease the value of a Ferrari as compared to an original example in the same condition. From my 20+ years in the Ferrari community, celebrity ownership doesn't necessarily increase a Ferraris value, unless that celebrity was somehow associated with Enzo or was a racing driver, ect...If you have 3 offers over $100k by legitmate buyers who can pay, which I am very skeptical of as being true, that's GREAT...just think what the offer would have been if the car was in fact original. If you will look at the SCM, FML, CPI as well as other exotic car publications you will note that $100k is well more than even the "asking price" of the Boxer market. Your car does look great... Good luck with the marketing of you car... ;)

If being one of the first Boxers made dosen't have Ferrari history all over it and give it.....considerably more value than a 512 or later model 365 I don't know what else would. This is the only reason I have not agreed to sell this car yet....I think it will be an important car in Boxer history...not celebrity history. As far as you being skeptical about someone being a legitimate buyer or not also is irrelavent. Not trying to give you a hard time but why make a comment just to be making a comment if your not interested in buying the car. You opinion on the value or the market price is your opinion. The only 365 for sale right now in the US is in Florida for $98,000. Who is setting the market value there.

Still having the original specification parts that made it a piece of Ferrari history would be a start, otherwise it’s just a modified boxer that the majority of people interested in any historical significance would need to spend a fair amount of money restoring it back to its factory configuration. With the current market conditions you shouldn’t have a problem selling it though

The best way to find out what the value will be in five years is to keep it for that long and sell it then. Asking an inflated price now is wishing. All 365BBs are one of the firsts.

The guys in Florida...and YOU are!!! LOL!

That yellow one has been there forever.......doesn't show well up close, I've heard.

The front spoiler mod is legit, to hold it on the road, all that ground pounding horsepower and all.....my cars have a few similar oddities, as folks worked on them over the years....

I don't disagree with your point, Frank, but I think the decrease is from $130k to $100k-110k.

Of course it would be worth more if it was all original. But it's still worth quite a bit as-is.

He could probably find a front and rear valence for under $1000 each, 2 new 7.5 wheels for the rear and a few misc items maybe $5000 in total.

The blue 365/BB posted here awhile back sold for $125k twice in the past year if this car was returned to factory specs he should at least get that.
As it sits now $100k sounds about right.
