Is there a definitive statement of exactly which badges were applied to the exterior of the first Dino 308?
I find it very confusing, should there be a prancing horse on the rear panel? Does the name Ferrari feature anywhere.? I have looked at early articles and photos and find that most cars featured have been badge modified. Thanks

I've attached the Ferrari technical bulletins issued for the Dino 308GT4 - if you scroll through to bulletin 266/8 you will see the 'official' changes prescribed by Ferrari to rebadge the Dino. From this its clear what the car didn't have pre-amendments. While many dealers/distributors implemented 266/8 differently - i.e. perhaps used what stock they had on hand, or negotiated with existing owners what they did or didn't want, I believe it is safe to say that before any modifications were adopted a correct Dino as factory issued would have had no external Ferrari insignia, no Ferrari script on the boot lid, no Cavallino horse by the license plate, no Ferrari logos in the centre caps of the wheels nor on the steering wheel. Dino badge would be the only nose badge, and Dino script caps would be in the centre of wheels and steering.

Thank you Ian very interesting documents. My car has Dino hub caps , steering wheel centre , boot lid badge, front Dino badge but has been drilled for cavallino horse and Ferrari script above rear number plate, it also had scuderia stickers on each wing near the upper door hinge but I have removed these. I am not aiming for concourse originality and have no knowledge as to the fitment of extra badgeing before it was sold. The record shows that it sat from October '74 to July '75 before it was sold. I guess I will stick with " if the holes are there fit the badges " Many thanks.

Mine is #10254 (1975) but didn't sell until 1977. The only thing added to it was the Cavallino horse next to the license plate - I've taken the same approach - the holes are there so I'll leave it. If it ever gets its rear repainted, then I'll remove it and fill the holes.
