Hi, this is my first visit. I have nearly finished the restoration of my espada that I have owned since 1977. I need a complete set (12) of the rocker switches on the dashboard. Does anyone have any idea on where they originate from or who might have them. I am based in the UK but would be quite happy to pay shipping costs if I could find them. Without them I cant finish the dash.
    Thanks

They will knnow exactly what you want and if they have it you're done.

If not try the Vintage Lamborghini Group over on Yahoo Groups.
This has been discussed over there sometime in the past 2 years and there are Italian suppliers of at least some of these switches.

trying to get them all with the correct pics may prove difficult > are they just badly faded but still work > if so you can remove and use plastic polish on them and then repaint the pic using a fine brush and then reinstall.

I am not much good at this stuff yet. I have just tried to upload some pictures of how it was to how it looks at the moment, not sure if they will display.
Thanks everyone for your replies. We dont have any of the originals. They went missing whilst the car was at the factory but it came back such a long time ago that we have only just found out about the bits not being there.
I will definitely give Bill Young a call and also start the Fiat route. As soon as I come up with something I will let you all know. Thanks again Lynne

    Hi Tannucats,

I've sent you a pm on this LamboChat forum some days ago concerning your switches question, but no reply ? perhaps you didn't notice it ?
Seeing the pictures of your car, I imagine you have a SIII dasboard ?

Some months ago I did a complete switches check-up for my Miura. Here is a picture of the restored switches ready to be fitted on my car. By comparison with the Miura, I imagine you need in addition the wiper switch ? but what is/are the additional switches for the Espada to make the twelve you mention ?

I have some of these switches available - not all of them .
And one question, do you need the switches only, or also the bezels / rectangular frame-black plastic holders ? I also have some of NOS bezels.

    Bruno

PS: just confirm us also your dashBoard type

Try as I might, I have not been able to cross reference the one with the light and wavy lines with any other manufacturer. I wonder if this is a Lamborghini specific switch?

    Hi Bruno
Thank you so much. I have been away from my computer for a few days. The problem we have at the moment is we only have the dashboard and no switches at all. The car was left unattended for a very long time before being returned to us from the factory and the switches did not come back. It was complete when it went there! Our own fault as it was not checked on its return 5 years ago. All of the interior was removed for restoration including the dash, so we are working blind. We are going to the guys doing the work soon and will have a better idea of what is needed. Also, some of the backs of the switches have a different amount of prongs to connect into the circuits. We need this information as well. Dou have an electrics diagram of how the switches connect too. We have pictures of other restored dashboards but it is the underside that is still a puzzle.
    All help gratefully received
    Thanks

    Lynne

    Hi Gary,

First, most of the switches of my car were in good condition (no bad and deep scratch for instance) only the black plastic color was more dark-grey than pure-black and the white paint lf the markings was tired.
So, first, complete disassembling of each switch, then cleaning with a soft sponge and soap water. On some details / areas , I used 1200 sandpaper+water and then polish paste.
For all the white logos & pictos : I decided to remove completely the old paint (dirty and crackeled) with a small and sharp tool and then replace it with a slightly flurescent white paint (initially dedicated to paint hands for wristwatches).

I recently restored a Series II Jag E-type. The S2 E-type has 10 smooth, black plastic rocker switches. No white markings, no raised ridges, so they may have been easier to work with. The first thing to try is the easiest. If your switch covers are not too dried out, 303 Aerospace Protectant may bring them back. I had success using this stuff on other plastic bits, unfortunately, my switches were too far gone.

Having just finished up an E-type, I, of course, own a buffing motor and selection of buffing wheels (plenty of polished aluminum on an E-type). Some time with a loose flannel wheel and blue buffing compound (for plastics) brought the switch covers back to like new condition. 2 of the 10 were pretty bad and required some work with 1500 and 2000 grit sand paper before buffing. A word of warning, even with a loose flannel wheel, it's possible to use excessive pressure and put flat spots on curved surface or sharp edges.

If the snow doesnt stop play tomorrow, we are going to meet up with the mechanics to see exactly what is still needed and hopefully be able to post some pics. It is definitely an S3 dash and I think we have located some switches. I was amazed to see how shiny the switches are in the picture above. Thanks guys will be back soon
