I never really pursued the early Boxer. - Because #1 they were never really any around forsale. There was a guy in the FML (about two years ago), that was asking 89K for the car. I think he sold it pretty quickly. I do not think he advertised at as something really special (as far as the condition of the car). He had owned it for many years. I have not seen many forsale. They certainly did not build many of them. I read that they are a blast, in the first two gears. The price seems a little high. - But you always want to buy the best car you can find.
Dave, Does this car look familiar? I will let Dave post his impressions of this car. Stay tuned! KevFla
It has a BB front spoiler on it. Something interesting I saw was 365s have roll out sun visors that are like a retractable blind, something I have never seen on any car. The carbed 512 and 365s are very similar in how they drive, they are basically the same car with the exception of a few things.
I'm no Boxer expert but I also noticed it does not have the original exhaust system and I don't believe Ferrari put the model nomenclature ("365 GT/4 BB) on the air-filter housings.
Yes its missing the 3 outlet per side exhaust, wrong steering wheel, the carb covers look painted or powdercoated they of course were never yellow with writing on them.
Here's what it looked like in August when it was the finest in existence: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://media7.motorcities.com/04H2F244819861D.jpeg&imgrefurl=http://www.motorcities.com/contents/04H2F244819861.html&h=600&w=800&sz=79&tbnid=35NMKod0aqAJ:&tbnh=106&tbnw=141&start=3&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dyellow%2B365%2Bbb%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DG Dig that wing. Wonder what they used to fill the holes? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Other observations on this car: It is one of the "earlier 365 BBs" in that the rear deck does not have the center row of louvers, but the seats are of the later variety with the adjustable back rest (the earlier cars had one piece seats like the Daytona/Dino). This may be OK relative to originality though because I am not sure that these changes were made at the exact same time in the production run. Steve Biagini 365 BB 18745
KevFla and I saw this car the day before the Cavalino event. It is amazing what pictures will not show. This car has led a tough life , the existing paint is cracked deeply in several spots and has been repainted in others as evidenced by overspray on rubber trim. Under the car , frame tubes have been bent or dented. The engine has been rebult at less than 8000 miles ,not just serviced, something wrong here. However , I did like the boom boxs and bling-bling stereo so that others can FEEL you approach. Somthing wrong with the entire passenger side bank of cylinders while running. This may be an OK driver but it was represented to me as " One of the best 365 Boxers in the world. " It may be if 300 or so 365BBs experience an automotive Rapture. Just how many miles is it from Paris to Dakar ?
the wing and wheels look aweful, glad they are gone. yellow looks really nice on a 365........ i LOVE the 3 tail lights on these and the 2+2's. 98k seems steep though.
