While getting my daily fix of all cool car stuff, I stumbled upon this listing at The best vintage and classic cars for sale online | Bring a Trailer (no relation to buyer):

    No Automatic Option: 1976 Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 | Bring a Trailer

This is the link that is included within BAT listing to the Craigslist advertisement in California:

    1976 Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2

I could locate very little information on this forum relating to 19179 prior to creating this thread, but it appears that the fellas at BAT are doing their typical dissecting of all vehicles posted for sale there... For starters, it is being listed as a 1976 but being that it was the first year the 400 GT's came out, I took the liberty of claiming this one as a 1975 model. Experts?

Additionally, the owner claims to have owned this car for 30 years - anyone in this forum know the gentlemen or this car? Notice how despite living in CA, he is insisting any potential buyer reside out of CA? Does that imply he never was able to register 19179 in CA for the years he has lived there? He's asking a solid $65,000 - am I the only surprised with how scant the details are when selling this Ferrari?

As for the California registration, it seems to be wearing blue CA plates, so was registered there at least once.

That said, once the car sells any special or one time exceptions granted to the current owner expire and no longer apply. I once imported a car to CA with a one time exemption, but the paperwork clearly stated that if I disposed of the car it would have to be sold or traded outside of CA.

Completed at the factory 1 May 1976. This is clearly a 1976 and not a 1975 model.
Original Color: Grigio Argento 2.443.048 with Nero Cogolo interior.
Assembly sequence #503, Pininfarina Body #506.
Delivered new to Swiss importer SAVAF (Société Anonyme pour la Vente des Automobiles Ferrari) in Geneva.

Wow, so one of the very last if not the last GT4 2+2s before they went to 400 production? Needs to be put back to original silver if you ask me. :)

I'll be selling one of my non-F cars at the same Russo & Steele auction next week. Assuming my schedule works out to be there before this 365 goes through the auction block, I'd be happy to have a look and provide some in-person impressions. Just let me know if anyone is interested.

    Cheers!

    Good day All,

It looks as if 19179 has been recently sold... I think the last asking price they had listed was $79500 USD, although I could be mistaken.

    Cheers,

    Sam

That's correct Sam. I don't know what the actual selling price was but when my friend inquired, price was somewhat firm and the car required some TLC.

    Good day Mohammed,

    Thank you for the confirmation!

Indeed, I enquired about this car about 4+ years ago. They wanted close to $40K USD at the time and I was told it was owned by a long time owner who was up in age. The car was solid, but needed as you say TLC and I seem to recall that it needed valve guides (so I was told).

    Cheers,

    Sam
