1977 308 GTB 21291 Fuseboard Upgrade

In the process of upgrading the fuseboard and looking for any and all input. I’m 90% there but a few interesting wires I cannot figure out.
The first few pictures are before after then I’ll post a few questions.

At some point someone converted the passenger door window switch on the drivers door and installed power locks. I’m assuming this rats nest is the connection but wondering what this blue relay might be?

Curious which fuse-board you are using?

 

Upgraded to “turtle farmer” (Jason), member here on Fchat. The board is unbelievable and plug and play once you sort out all the hacks from previous owner installs of radios, alarms etc

I spent a full day eliminating non-stock wiring and making repairs, like replacing aftermarket crimp ons with the factory style when I did my fuse panel swap (also used the one from TurtleFarmer-a very nice piece).

 

The relays might be related to a fix for slow windows. Ferrari changed the up/down direction by reversing the polarity of the two wires to the motor. This meant that the ground side had to run back to the switch. One of the solutions was to add a relay in the door to add a local ground so the total wiring to ground was cut in half, thus reducing the voltage drop in the window circuit.

BTW, I also installed a TurtleFarmer fuse panel. See Electrical Issues (parrotbyte.com). I also had to remove an old alarm system. See Alarm Be Gone (parrotbyte.com).

 

I have the turtle farmer one as well. Here is the install. Was doing some trouble shooting with this cold start issue so had all the fuses out but the two needed to run the car.

@330gt, Does this also work for the 328? ( In case of slow windows) If so, do you have a wiring diagram?

It appears to be a time delay relay. Is there an aftermarket alarm installed in the car?

Or could be installed to allow you to finish powering the windows up after the car has shut off. Similar to a relay for windshield wipers that allows the wipers to complete a cycle when you shut the car off.

Also can be used as a central locking control relay, so might be associated with the power lock installation. That, given your description, is the most likely.

 

Thank you! My thread got derailed and this was the answer I was hoping for! I will remove everything and try to restore the factory set up which I believe is NO power locks on a 1977 GTB and the 2 switches on the drivers side controlling the window motors. I will do the suggested relay modification!

 

Easiest way to find out, given the likely hood that it is connected to some aftermarket fiddling, is to unplug it and see what stops working.
