I'm new to the board as well and hoping to get some feedback and suggestions on ownership. After what seemed like an eternity, my 77 308 GTB has arrived from New England to spend the foreseeable future with me in Southern California. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning as I watched it emerge from the carrier. A quick test drive confirmed what the dealer told me as far as its condition. Of course, many of you are aware of the strict emissions rules in California, and the first thing I must address is reinstating the emissions system. Any thoughts on where to start for brackets, air injectors and pumps? Any help is appreciated! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I would contact Norwood in Dallas TX, as I belive they have perfected an electrically operated Air Injection system, that greatly simplifies things, and does not need to belt off of the cams. Beautiful color! Your 1977 is plated down as NON CAT so I think the air injection is all you need. Be a shame to refit the heavy thermoreactor muffler. Maybe they will not be looking for that? Someone like Gary Bobilieff or Patrick Ottis would be helpful to get you passed I would think... Welcome! The shrink wrap is a nice touch!
Look at that beautiful rear muffler shroud!!! Might still have the OEM muffler under that.. There's actually an ad in ferrariAds (in the blue bar) with a set of pumps and tubes and valves, if it's not yet sold.
Thank you. I will do some investigation and report what I find. I have a mechanic here who will be doing the work but I figured I would start here for the best ideas. I can't wait to get her out on the road.
Shake down the brakes....the coupler lines to the calipers are notoriuos for swelling closed, to the inside. reducing the flow in both directions. Cheap enough to replace them all, and the outer stainless braid "is said" to give a firmer pedal feel. Mainly, bleeding them and fresh DOT fluid does the same!
Congrats! Marrone Metallic? My 76 has the same rather rare color. Not many 308s in it. Looks awesome on the 308. Enjoy!
I have some extra parts from when I got my 77 to pass. When I get back in town Tuesday I'll see exactly what I have. You need a charcoal canister, smog pump and injection tubes. Base timing is 3*ATDC and has to idle below 1,000.
Thanks everyone. I am thrilled to be a part of the community. Everyone has been so generous with their time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
